Hello mate, I don't think you sold the 8500 with how happy you were? What happened? What are you going for now?

Yes, I was very happy. It performs well, is completely rock solid, and very flexible.... but why I switched/needs changed..
-Wanted to go beyond 13 channels
-Wanted a different room correction... I have had trouble with liking long term the use of Audyssey in higher frequencies. While the app is a step in th right direction, it is still lacking if you are wanting to EQ high frequencies IMO (it can work but it is very convoluted)
-Wanted to be able to use a better, calibrated mic
-Wanted the ability to do manual EQ. Sometimes you just want to add a filter or 2 to fix an issue. Can't do that with Denon
-Wanted to be able to do multiple zones and EQ the multiple zones
-Wanted to be able to do 4 subwoofers
-Wanted Dirac DLBC or something like it
-Wanted a higher level of support when needed
-Wanted something upgradeable
This lead me to the StormAudio MKII (2nd choice was Trinnov, and third was HTP1). I actually had a Trinnov on order but ended up changing my mind to the Storm which is what I am using now. I was very happy with te X8500H and my opinion of it haven't changed. It is probably about as good as it gets in a plug and play receiver. It was just what I wanted ended up changing and evolving over time.

Wow an avr stormaudio that are already big words, I'm glad for your new acquisition!

The same thing happened to me with Audyssey I liked it at times and then I got bored.

Now I walk with an avr20 + emotional amplifiers and I am very happy with it
sound.
