Sofa with built in subwoofer - does it make sense?

Thanks for all your additional replies.
I want to do this, but most likely it won't happen in the next weeks. After I find one or more companies who are willing to do this, I have to look at which speakers and amp(s) I can use. I hope there is enough space for 12" woofers, let's see.

Currently I have the following amp on my mind. My miniDSP SHD Studio "preamp" has AES output, and I like to keep everything digital until the end.

It will take some time, but I will definitely update you about this project.

I gave up on this project.

In the last days I watched a couple of videos how sofas (the style which I want) are produced. And I visited a sofa factory near Bangkok.
Now I know it would be very challenging to build one or more sealed speaker cabinets into a sofa. And once it's built, there is no access for any maintenance.
On top of that, there are so many pieces of wood and other materials in there, that I am pretty sure there will always be something that resonates.
Summary: Maybe some specialist with a lot of time and knowledge could do it. I am not the one.
So, I ordered an ordinary sofa without build in speakers.

One "compromise" I will keep in mind is the following. I asked the sofa manufacturer if they could put the same kind of leather which is on my sofa on a box. They can. So maybe in the future I will buy or built a regular subwoofer and let them make it in the same look as my sofa. Let's see.

Thanks for all your comments and suggestions.

Here is a few photos of my DIY subs built to be hidden under sofa. They are placed in cavities under the sofa without modifications. Placement is one at each end, and one in the corner. Supplemented with a small sub between speakers on front wall, and tuned a-la Geddes style. Results are not perfect but much better than before when I had speakers only. Bass was always weird and changed a lot in different seats - from nasty boomy to totally lacking.

As seen in picture there is not much freedom for placement in this room, with all the doors and corners. This system has been in service for several years now and works very nice. Only one seat is "plagued" with vibrations from sub, and that is the one next to the teddybear. Seldom in use so not a big issue

I mounted a tactile transducer (a Clark Synthesis model) in the sofa under my seat myself, not to be a sub but to complement my subs. I power it with one channel of one of the pro amps I use for my diy subs. I can't really see building a sub into a sofa, tho.
