That's subjective. They may feel the need to overspend to gain a particular look. There's really no need for VU meters, but some people like them. Buckeye is making some of the best amps around (hard to say as a Michigan fan), but it's true...but they're far from attractive. They may have money going out to the general population (charities, giving to individuals in need, ect.). They're able to do this because they conserve in areas that others spend, like living in a modest house, or driving a Buick instead of a Benz. People spend where they want to spend. I can't see living in a Mcmansion, too much to clean at my age. However I know people that have homes with 4 and 5 bathrooms let alone the bedrooms, but they have a soundbar - an inexpensive one at that, in the viewing room. It's all relative to the person. If a person is giving 15% or more of their total income for change in the general population - they should be able to buy something "stupid"...IMHO.

The reality is, there are A LOT of parents like that. The neighborhood I grew up, we didn't have much, but we all for the most part had great parents and an excellent support system. But some surrounding neighborhoods, damn, plenty of single crack mom households where the dad is absent and rolls by in their pimp car once in a while and their kids don't have enough to eat and wear pants that is up to their ankles. That was enough of a motivation for my friends and I to work hard and get the F out of that sh|thole.

Well, I for one don't like when people tell me what to buy. Even when my wife does so, we don't talk for days until she says she is sorry. In my case does not matter what it is - as long as I can clearly afford it by a long shot. Snob or not, if it matters to other people fine. Label it however you want it. I couldn't care less what other people (including my wife) thing about my spending. I spend entirely on what I want - and actually older I grow more wisely I spend.
Oh but you should not. It's kind of you are being bullying around. I had my Omegas for 30 years and never felt that they are inappropriate to wear. I actually like the frosted Rolex replicas in Dubai. Not cheap either, but gives something to people around to comment - and most importantly, blinks for you all day long.
That would be me - although it's more like 115-110dB at MLP. They still sound better than the lesser speakers, plus I tend to run them to 105dB out of courtesy to my ears and my neighbours. It's like 9 of them so I guess tremendous waste?
Yeah, I'm thinking of wearing them again, put some mileage on them before I hand it over to my older boy. Then I need to get another watch to put some mileage on it too before I hand it to my other boy. Something for them to carry with them to remind them of their old man when they are far from home one day.
Try not to be disappointed if they don't know what to do with your old stuff! My siblings and I recently cleared out our mom's place. Ultimately we mostly kept photos and memories, liquidated what we could, gave away what we couldn't. I kept my dad's old wristwatch, but to be honest, it doesn't give me any particular warm 'n fuzzies. And the only reason it's still in my hands is because my siblings wouldn't take it, and it needs servicing before it can be used - or sold.
What am I ignorant about here?
Oh man, I hope my boys don't feel that way, I would be heartbroken. Maybe I should ask them what they want, before I set my heart on a heirloom piece to hand to them.
And realize that what they think they want when they are teens may be very different from what they want when they are middle aged or older. When I was a teen, I thought I wanted a Porsche 928 with checkerboard upholstery, but today, I got other ideas.
That does surprise me. I have 4 of my dad's old watches, 2 wrist and 2 pocket, none of them worth anything really. I do just get the warm 'n fuzzies when wearing them on occasion. Since I never had any kids I do feel bad that in the end there's no one to pass off these too. Just me I guess ?
