So, long story short Ive been recently looking to get a decent set of cables to replace the old ones i have that are from some older dvd player or something and the other is from a box at a thrift store. I refuse to shop at amazon for reasons and was feeling a bit sketchy about some of the ebay ones and wanted ones i could confirm what was used and felt i could keep them for a while to come.

After talking with the SnakeOil Sound folks for a moment I figured Id just share this info here in case anyone decided to buy these though i imagine most here could make their own. The prices arent bad, sure they make the cables for a few dollars likely based on materials pricing but they seem decent.

Being around 22-41$ and 6in -10ft for a pair of RCA (krait model) it was in my price range so decided to jump in and test the water.

---------------------------------

Confirmed using This Sommer cable on the Taipan model (this is the datasheet they sent me on the cable for those) with Amphenol connectors i havent found yet

Edit: Looks like theyre the Amphenol ACPR-BLK

The Krait Cables I believe use this cable as they use Sommer mic cable for both and this is the only one that fits the color and listing of Sommer (0.22 mm²) they are said to use.

---------------------------------

The connectors on the Krait are

and on the Pyst for Schiit

---------------------------------

The XLR cables use the same wire for the Krait/Taipan respectively but Im not sure which XLR connectors they get from Sommer but likely the less expensive ones as its a smaller company.

---------------------------------

I'm not sure if anyone will find this information useful, Ill report on the physical build when they arrive but seeing as Im no expert take my thoughts with a hefty amount of salt.

Wise to avoid Amazon. No telling if the product specs are accurate with all of the counterfeits and shady brands.

Monoprice or Dayton cables get the job done and are a good value. No wondering if you're getting the specified gauge or if it's really copper wire inside.

Blue jeans cable is probably the best in price and performance. You know exactly what you are getting and it has all been properly tested. Monoprice and Dayton may also be good but I have not had any experience with them. I use Amazon basics cables/wires too. They work well but being Amazon the quality is sketchy. If they don't work a quick return to amazon gets it taken care of.

My subjective review of Blue Jeans. Blue Jeans cables and wires lifted a veil on the music, gave it a great tempo, smooth chocolaty mids and fast bass. The air in the upper end was awesome and the timing exquisite. My wife who could care less about audio, was in the kitchen running the garbage disposal and the dishwasher hollered out to me "What did you change? The music sounds awesome!" I knew then this was the real deal.

Seriously and all joking aside, Blue Jeans is a great company NOT ripping us off. Unlike most companies out there. I highly recommend them.

another snake oil thread. any RCA cable will do. Unless u r running a really long distance - more than 6-12 ft. Then, maybe, you should go balanced XLR.

I agree with that. You can certainly spend less on competent cables, but they make a consistent product, and have been great about any custom requests I've had. It's a mini-splurge, but doesn't hurt much.

Snake Oil makes great cables! They use aerospace grade connectors and quality German stock cabling. The best part is you can custom sizes at a really fair price!
