The external crossover reduces microphonic influences compared to in-box-installation, so not bad.
But what's about that weird cables (had a lot of them in my PC 30 years ago) and the measurement conditions (right back to the wall an one side free, one close)?
Leaves me ?

Without wishing to sound offensive, I find it hard not to get a little annoyed when reading the utter garbage in this "review" of the Harmonic Resolution Systems VXR Equipment Rack. What on earth does Robert Harley think we are, idiots? The sheer amount of totally unsubstantiated nonsense is truly nauseating:

"Moving the components to the VXR rendered a significant overall improvement in sound quality in many areas. First was a newfound smoothness of timbre and greater liquidity. The sound was softer because of the reduction in hardness and glare but no less incisive or immediate. It made for more relaxed and involved listening. The solo vocals and vocal harmonies of The Manhattan Transfer on the track “Cantaloop (Flip Out)” took on a more natural quality when stripped of a steely patina overlaying their textures. Sibilance was also reduced, a quality I heard on Melody Gardot’s voice on her album Sunset in the Blue. The strings on this album were lusher and more liquid, with a gossamer-like delicacy devoid of a steely edge. Although more relaxed and laid-back, the presentation was more highly resolved, permitting me to hear individual instruments in the mix with greater ease. Each instrument’s contribution was more easily followed because of the greater tonal realism, as well in the way the instrument was surrounded by tangible air."

I guarantee that I could blindfold Mr Harley, slap the hi-fi components on a concrete slab (or a bucket of horse excrement for that matter), and he'd wouldn't notice the difference.
A bucket of horse excrement would provide excellent damping for all components. The “WAF” for all but the most dedicated equestrienne is doubtful.

I once saw this nature doc in which a bear was plagued with flat worms, dangling out of his you know where.
This visually reminded me of that haha.

I guess the posts I was referring to got deleted?

Yes, seems there was a cleanup. But if you want to repost again 'clean' URL I think that will not generate any problem.

But if, as in my impression, You're interested in them, You might repost them?

I was merely suggesting that the poster use clean links. Now that those posts are gone my post makes no sense.

The RCA plugs looks dangerous in the wrong hands ?

I have a pair of Neat Iota speaker as surrounds in 5.1 setup. They are tiny ported boxes with a 4" driver that are quoted as having a response down to 42hz - this is a room averaged stereo value - whatever that means. In my room near a wall they go off a cliff at 80Hz.

Another model (the Petite) which is much loved by UK audiophiles has a 4" driver and claims 33Hz (in room). Must sound like the hushed fart of a frog (see video)

Snake Oil or not - you decide !

How could they not offer us snake oil when things like this happen?

and the manufacturer's answer

An example of "I only trust my ears".

On the headphones subreddit there was a post from somebody who claimed that they could hear differences between two power cords for their DAC/amp (apparently they were sent two accidentally).

After I and others pointed out that this was nonsense they made a follow up post where they said they did a blind test and could still identify the difference - in a single trial. They were aware that this was a 50/50 chance, but still maintained it was proof of there being a difference. You can't help some people.

The Iotas I heard had two 'sounds' to them - a warm, slightly lush/soft impact plump but highly 'musical' mid-bass and midrange, with tinssssel perched on top (I never could get on with hybrids like this). It's not that I don't like hf, even when my ears were better, but to have totally dissimilar 'characters' fighting together in one box is too much for me I'm afraid.

Guys hear me out…

…audiophile Hard Drives… we’re gonna be rich!
Too lazy to search for it, but there are indeed comparisons of the "sound" of different hard drives on the Internet. I think e.g Synergistic Research claim to have auditoned hard rivers for their audiophile music server line.

Once you discard the simple truth that bits are bits and praise the virtues of audiophile digital cables, there's really no reason to stop there. CPUs and memory, Mainboards and storage media are all fair game. Once upon a time Sony (!) released an audiophile SD card. Or why not claim that there is a difference between listening to FLAC vs. the FLAC converted to WAV?

There really, really is no end to the audiophile madness. I have found manufacturer claims of the effect of their tweaks being visible in microscopic examination of the listener's blood!

And, for your amusement or to make you despair of humanity, however you approach it, here's one of the eternal classics:

My understanding of Peter Belt's ideas is that they were/are entirely intended to be a placebo.

This is why there are so many and they are so odd - like putting a piece of paper under one foot of the turntable, attaching safety pins to the curtains, inserting paper into books so they have an even number of pages.

They are all intended to have a psychological effect on the listener when he is done with the tweaking and sits down to evaluate the results. If one doesn't work one of several probably will. Since they are bizarre they stick in the mind.

I read he got the idea when he had an antique coffee table revarnished. He perceived the new finish improved the sound even though he was aware it couldn't.
