Good gods, you can probably pump half a megawatt through this thing. Perfect for my plans of a Bugatti Veyron powered soundsystem that sounds better than anything else because it's quadturbo. Four smaller ones are way more responsive than a single big one, it'll be really fast, snappy, responsive and dynamic.

I haven't solved the noise floor problem yet, though.

What you see there is a "Supra Lorad 2.5 mk2" power cable, 3x2.5mm² that he normally uses with his 2x5W tube amp (not pictured). Omg it elevates my cheap DAC to whole new levels! The lifted veils and much stronger and more defined bass! :p Admittedly, reasonably priced at 80€, still, what the fuck.

Top left is the separate power line for the stereo, audiophile Schuko socket. Going to the breaker box to a special gold plated melting fuse and special holder, because automatic breakers don't sound good! Shielded installation wire in the wall too. :facepalm:

It's kinda embarrassing because dad is an electronics engineer with a lifetime of professional audio experience, and still falls for this shit. Love you anyway, dad. :D

He's a blessed man anyway. Mum also has a degree in electronics and sees right through this bullshit, but lets it slide because it makes him happy, as long as it doesn't ruin their finances. She gets that music is important to him (as it is to me), and never objected to a proper stereo. WAF isn't much of a concern in their household, a rarity. Still doesn't stop her and me bantering about his snake oil stuff every time I visit. :p Her ears are better than his and mine combined anyway. In younger years when I asked her opinion about electrotechno stuff I made, her staple answer was "it sounds good but it needs more bass".

Lucky is the man with a wife and the son with a mother like her. <3

Gold is great for low current/low voltage contact points.
But it's very fragile, so it's terrible for high current/high voltage contact points.
Plug a power amp in while it is turned-on and it will blow holes in the gold.

Didn't know that. Is it really that bad? Somewhat lower conductivity, thin plating, and material weakness against high current spikes add up that much it can destroy it?

I can see an arc vaporizing a thin gold plating. But that's why you need solid gold, of course.
