In this case I believe this is absolutely a cynical con. And in the case of the Facebook post, probably AI-generated. Sociopathic.

I can accept some under-educated and under-informed audio hobbyists who are misled saying that signal cables and speaker cables makes a difference, despite it's 1000% snake oil.

But power cables, network cables, fuses, USB cables. . .that I cannot accept how under-educated and under-informed one may be, they are just plain out idiots for even entertaining to buy into this nonsense.

I think Paul is walking on a very narrow planck with that fuse video. You can make convincing sounding claims about cables and power conditioners, but fuses start to be so absurd that even the biggest believers might start to question the claims and wonder how much of the other stuff he is saying is based on facts. Wouldn't be surprised if the video gets removed at some point.
 
I doubt it. Paul appeals to the "everything matters" crowd. You're either in or you're out.

Just have a look at the comments, it's quite hilarious :D I think he went way overboard on this one. He'll need to waste a lot of time policing that comment section to keep it "clean". Luckliy there is so much Poe's Law that the best stuff will probably remain anyway ;)
 
Maybe Paul could sell magic extension cords. You buy one, use it, and the sound improves. Buy another, connect it in series with the first one, and the sound improves further. Buy more cords, and the sound gets better and better until the voltage sag causes equipment malfunction.

I was banned from the PS audio forum for arguing about audiophile fuses. Turns out that the person I was in disagreement with is one of their design engineers.

Still, I sometimes view it as a badge of honour. For example, I'm banned from the r/audiophile Subreddit (another cesspool) for suggesting someone's room (nice and luxurious, with a very expensive stereo) probably sounded horrible because it was nothing but bare walls, glass, and tiles.

In the UK, if you believe this nonsense, you'd need two per piece of equipment, because our mains plugs have have a fuse in them too. :)

It always made those massive thick "audiophile" power cables seem a bit silly, knowing that the power goes through 2 thin pieces of wire, probably less than a millimeter in diameter, at either end of it.
