Snake Oil Department, Top This

I guess they scare the noise away?

They do look cool as an art object though! But silk comes out of the rear end, not the eyes (and they have more than two of those…)
They're creepy enough without adding more eyes.

Capacitors, to make your audio coherent...

A paper-in-oil capacitor is to me a firecracker waiting for a match, but in this case it's more like a grenade waiting for the pin to be pulled.

Sometimes, there's no real alternative. I just replaced the RIFA paper-in-oil "safety" capacitors in my HP 5334b frequency counter, but pretty much had to buy exact replacements from Kemet. Nothing else had the right form factor and safety ratings as these particular examples for use between line and neutral incoming service power, but I would have preferred some other kind of film capacitor.

But when I replaced the paper-in-oil snubber capacitors in my Teac 4010 open-reel deck, I used 630V polyester film replacements. Those had axial leads and form factor wasn't an issue. One of the originals had let go and it sounded like a gunshot. Those were about a quarter inch in diameter--the one above would sound like a howitzer and probably blow the device apart.

Just think of all the noise Bourgeois’ Mamam could be suppressing.

Pretty wild that they claim noise reduction AND dither. I wonder if they sell low-sodium himalayan sea salt, too?

They probably have a sales motion for something this expensive, so I think this self-contradictory BS is actually an important self-selection mechanism for them. If the prospective customer is going to ask questions and understand the answers, they want nothing to do with them. So this weeds out anyone with two (audio-specific) brain cells to rub together.

I too am fascinated. What do they mean by dither? Whatever it is, how is a cable applying it?

No, wait - let me guess.

I think you may have grabbed the lead here.
I thought I had it for a while with the $34,000 power cable I posted but it appears that's only pocket change.
