SMSL's new products DL100 DAC

the headphone socket should be similar to the M300 ie. above avg. but not great but hey what do you expect... its not a HP amp

this DL100 and DL200 is what I hate about SMSL and really, this industry as a whole

what I would love SMSL to do is to offer THREE products based on the DL100 going forward

keep all the DL100 features but have an SKU with the ESS9039 and another SKU with the AKM4499 whatever equivalent top of the line

of course add the costs to the *base* $175 CS unit

i dont like this thing where you have to choose TRS or HDMI or... this shouldnt be the case

it would save them money since they are just reusing the same case... just changing the board

I mean everyone wants the DL100 feature set but they want the DAC chipset inside to their liking

you may as well call it the DL100ESS.... DL-100AKM

M300se headphone amp should be quite a lot weaker

Whereas the headphone amp in C200, DL100 and DL200 should be more than enough for most headphones out there

As far as I understand, if you need XLR output and high-power headphone amplifier, then choose DL100. If you think TRS6.35mm balanced output is more suitable for you, then choose DL200. And the headphone amplifier performance of DL200 is not that good.
Thanks so much for your help.
So the headphone amp of DL200 is worse than DL100?

Thanks for the great discussion.
My first post on the forum and building my first system. Suggestions / comments / trolling is welcomed.
Goal is to get good sound out of a 2.1ch system for good stereo music without breaking the bank (cant afford the 3 way towers that I want).

Want to use the DL100 as a primary hub for my planned system:
  1. DAC (BT input and USB input from Tidal on phone / PC),
  2. Preamp (CD transport into optical / Coaxial input)
  3. TV audio (HDMI input)
I plan on running:
  • 2x Fosi V3 monos from XLR out to the XLR in on the V3's to 2x Bentely Acoustics RB-2 Bookshelves (South African brand, Peerless drivers)
  • That leaves the RCA outputs free on the DL100.
My question is whether I can run my active Sub (Jamo C910) from the RCA outputs on the DL100 while the XLR's feed the bookshelves through the V3's?
I know the Fosi ZA3 would solve my problem with its Sub output, but I'm very keen on the Monos.

Also what would be the best way to integrate a turntable into the system?
And am I making any massive mistakes here (other than over thinking this)?

Any feedback appreciated.

Yes, you can do that.
DL100 XLR connected to V3
DL100 RCA connected to SUB's LINE IN.

I have an SMSL DO100 DAC connected to my TV via TOSLink (Optical). I use it to listen to YouTube Music, movies in stereo. I also have a PlayStation connected to the TV. The gaming sound is also decoded by the SMSL DO 100.

Does anyone know if HDMI CEC work with this dac so that volume can be controlled via TV remote or 3P remote like that of apple tv?
