SMSL SU-X with 2x ES9039MSPRO

This is nice on paper. But the first harmonic (H2) of a 10kHz signal is 20kHz, where the human hear already has a significant attenuation even in very young people. Of course, in the quest for perfection, they could have placed this bypass capacitor, but it would probably not have made any difference in a weighed measurement.
Tweaks is not expensive, measurements show a reduction in distortion. Intermodulation distortion should also be considered.

I also performed dac tweaks. I removed the output switch from the balanced outputs. This should be done carefully, because when you change the source songs and something else, there are clicks at the output.I have a built-in balance buffer at the input of the power amplifier, not a balance, and then a relay volume control. I also replaced the +-12 volt stabilizers. There were emitter repeaters, I put low-noise stabilizers lt3045 lt 3094.Distortion of the entire channel(DAC and amplifier):at 10 kHz, 50 watts of output power, 192 kHz sample rate and a bandwidth of 90 kHz were 0.00008.

The SU-9 had a SINAD if 120dB, so going to 0.0008% would be a reduction. The SU-X claims 126dB unweighted, which would give 0.00005% which is lower anyway than what you are claim as a reduced value—but for the entire system. So, what would be the improvement on unweighted THD on the DAC alone with your tweaks?

Nothing audible. At all. For anybody under any conditions.

Only by dac.Without modification, the distortion is 0.00015 at 10 kHz.With improvements of about 0.00006. The most significant contribution is made by the installation of 0805 capacitors for power supply. The exclusion of output switches and the installation of low-noise stabilizers practically does not reduce Thdn. You can't hear the improvements by ear, subjectively.

Hi Smarty,
What preamplifier do you use with your SU-X?
I'd like to use this DAC with my floor-standing speakers and home amplifier (Anthem Statement P-5 multi-channel) and I don't know whether I need a preamplifier or not. Is it necessary to use a preamplifier in my situation and set the SU-X volume to FIX or can I use the SU-X with my system and just use the DAC volume?
My preamp is the Accuphase C-275 that I bought 20 years ago in Japan. Built like a tank and pretty damn good!!! I'd guess the DAC volume of the SU-X is good so you don't need to buy a preamp if you don't have one already.

What value 0805 capacitor was installed to provide local decoupling?
