SMSL SU-9 Balanced DAC Review

What exactly the defect I do hear from my SU9 with the stock firmware?
The effect is almost similar to the "tube filter" in a way, so 3rd harmonic distortion, but a lot of it and only on one channel. Whether it's audible or not is not the point, it's an error in the firmware for mapping to that channel and it's been identified/rectified. The issue is which will one get if they order from any other supplier apart from Shenzhenaudio and how best to distribute update tools for existing owners that want the update.

Thank you....

I've already decided to return mine and never purchase anything from them again. I get mishaps happens from time to time, how you deal with them, and especially in relation to their customers speaks volumes about a company. How could you ever trust them?

I've been in talks with them, Shenzhen, and Apos. SMSL won't send upgrade tools, Shenzhen and Apos don't even have one, Apos wasn't even aware and asked me to talk to SMSL... This is making my opinion of them go south really fast, especially if they honestly expect me to send mine out on my own dime, let it sit with them for an unspecified amount of time before I get it back when it was their mistake. I hope they give me some good news.

Even Sabaj sent an updating tool for Sabaj D5 to all users all over the world.

It basically comes down to price and if it's an inaudible flaw. There isn't much competition on the low price - high spec side of audio electronics. The low prices target high volume sales to the masses. Not to people that contemplate 3rd harmonic disorders..... I'm not saying it's right but given the world we actually live in, it's understandable. And when it comes to problems and errors, always remember, someone once made a decision that blew up the Space Shuttle...... People make mistakes - this is a small one in the scheme of things

Shenzhenaudio told me that I would have to send my device back to China, at my cost, for repair. I have not received a response from SMSL customer service unfortunately.

Shenzhen is not willing to mail me the cable. I offered to buy the cable and pay for the shipping, they said no. O asked if they would send me the specs of the cable, so I could fabricate it locally and send me the firmware file, they said no. So for me this will be my last device from SMSL. Pretty poor customer service in my book. All companies make mistakes, what matters is the response to said mistake and how active their online reps are to reaching out to the consumer base. Wolf and Liu have done more to help consumers than the company:mad: They have right to run their business how they want, and I will just spend elsewhere.

It's absolutely ridiculous. I could make the cable myself if they would tell me what the specs were and gave me the firmware. It would cost them $0 to do that. But instead they want me to ship it to them on my own dime. Very disappointed.

really so silly. That's why I suggest Schitt`s way. Software is done through an sd-card on new units. Moreover, they replace the whole unit if anything happens.
