This is a review and detailed measurements of the SMSL RAW Pro-DAC1 balanced stereo audio DAC. It was sent to me by shezehenaudio and costs US $699.

I must say, this is one of the most modern and attractive looking SMSL DACs. The UI is simple to navigate without the included remote and seems very responsive. Back panel shows the usual connection with the addition of USB-C:

If you are not familiar with my DAC measurements, please watch my tutorial on it:

SMSL RAWPro-DAC1 Measurements
As usual, we start with our dashboard with XLR output with volume set to 0 dB:

This is state of the art performance when it comes to combination of noise and distortion, easily landing the RAW Pro-DAC1 in our top 20 best list:

RCA performance is excellent as well, providing full audible transparency to the source:

Allowing +2 dB max volume, you get even better performance:

Dynamic range is naturally pegged at the top of the scale:

IM distortion and noise is kept to a minimum:

Jitter is essentially non-existent on both USB and Toslink inputs:

Linearity is excellent:

Multitone distortion is state of the art:

60 Hz tone into very low 600 ohm performance turns in full transparency and superb performance:

Default filter suits me fine:

Wideband noise+distortions turns in chart topping figures as well:

Conclusions
The RAWPRO-DAC1 provides flawless performance, topping all of my measurements. It is attractive both mechanically and when it comes to the display. As picky as I am, I can't find any faults to report.

I am happy to recommend the SMSL RAW Pro-DAC1 stereo DAC.

Thank you for another blistering great review. Pretty soon, you will need a new AP to keep up with the Production Quality. Crazy how fast the industry has pushed performance so far in production units that cost less than a Grand. High End Performance Audio has never been more accessible by the average thrifty consumer. Pat yourself on the back Amir. Much of this advancement in improved Audio transparency and quality is because of the pressure you personally have placed on the industry/market. Your good deeds are paying off in Spades. Bravo …

Boring. I want to see a bad measuring DAC again, it’s been too long.
Does this qualify:

Or a little further back: (But still in 2024)

Your comparing a $700 DAC to a $170 ADC, DAC, dual mic input, HP amp? Ild rather buy the Scarlett, you probably cant hear the differance.

No power brick in the picture means all needed power is supplied via USB-C? Nice. :( So used to seeing the brick my eyes apparently stopped working when it wasn't there.

I've noticed this new styling from a range of new SMSL products. It's nice to see there's promising performance behind the pretty faceplates.

Fantastic DAC. Glorious measurements.

Now that amps are getting better, partly through the use of lower gain / sensitivity, I'd like to see DACs with higher output levels. This could help to open up the dynamic range of the system as a whole.

Yeah it was a reach. Best I could come up with at 0300 hrs and no sleep…:p

I do not vote the maximum score, but 3 despite the remarkable performance of this DAC, because it seems out of place to me to offer today a DAC which does not include at least one parametric equalizer

For a minute there I thought it had a 12v trigger… but no, it’s a screw.

I really love my C200, so have some fond thoughts towards SMSL, but leaving triggers off a DAC this expensive almost seems like they’re being intentionally annoying. Fosi manage to do it on the ZD3 which is what, 1/5th the price?
