What a shame. It's a nice player too, especially for the price. Any faults for me would mean it being sent back to China at my expense. A pity really, as I was considering one for my garden room system.
 
Mine arrived the other day. I finally got around to unpacking and setting it up and…….it doesn’t work. The disc tries to spindle but there’s a clicking inside and the display just says “Read”. I tried multiple discs and can’t play anything.

Just for fun, it’s also hard to eject a disk! I have to repeatedly press the button before it almost pops out, then goes back in and the player tries to read it again. And again. And again. And then I can get it out.

Like a chump, I ordered directly from China so now I’ve got a nice $150 paperweight on my hands.

Needless to say, don’t buy this. 0/10 rating.

If it's DOA I'd certainly complain. Sometimes they just send a new one.

I wrote to them, but it’s Golden Week and they’re not back up and running until after the 9th. I’ll update when I hear back.

Please check with a different power supply. Mine had similar issues when I tried to use it with 1.5A PSU. It really needs that 2A or more juice to work properly.

Oddly enough, I heard from SMSL overnight and they said the same thing. My power supply says it's 2A, but I'll try another just to be sure.

When PL100 came out some people were saying use 2.4A instead just to be sure since many 2A aren't really that strong

My power supply is labeled 2A but maybe actually puts out less? Or like you say it might need 2.5

When I plugged into my laptop’s USB port, the player actually works!!

OK, so it might just need something stronger. I use 2.4A for my PL150

I use generic 5v/2a wall power adapter with PL connector and it works fine

What we used to call Harvest Moon (I don't think that w went on vacation then, though [at least not that I remember]).
 
My PL150 worked for exactly one disc. Out of the box I threw in Bob Dylan Time Out of Mind listend to it, and poof. Now every disk I put in says read then disc there's a little clicking sound and nothing. The only buttons that do anything are volume mute and eject. But nothing else plays I've put in many discs.
 
The clicking was my problem at first. I got a 5V 2.5A power supply and things have been good since. But if you had a power supply issue, you’d figure it would be there from the start.

I had it on my desk plugged into my anchor prime 250 w charging station . It's power draw according to the display peaks at 6.6 Watts and then drops down to a little less than a watt at idle. I have since used two other USB power supplies. None have worked maybe I'll grab a laptop charger from my horde of cables and try that.

The first time I got it to work, I powered it straight from my laptop.
 
Upon reading this last string of posts, I had to register so I could also post my experience… mid September bought a PL150 through Amazon. Took about 3 weeks for it to ship. Finally arrived. Sadly, just an empty box…. Contacted Amazon through their chat bot and was issued a refund, no questions asked. Not even proof of the empty box was required.

empty box?! wow. did you order the black PL150? because I had one on order for weeks without them shipping. i nagged their CS chat to a point where I was blocked from entering live chat (yes this can happen but it's show "oh no something went wrong" ). at one of those chats before being blocked, a rep gave me 200$ in gift cards..just so I would end the chat . I also reached out to the seller who advised me there aren't really black units in stock , and a couple of days later they grey ones appeared back in stock. confirmed with the sellers that he truly have those in stock and made an order..using the gift cards money :D
oh and to cancel the black unit order, I had to contact "Amazon Social Media Team" on Twitter..
 
Yes, it was a black PL150. Honestly, I'd afraid to order another when they become available. Many duds as far as I can tell by the recent posts to this thread.
