Looks quite nice! Seemingly a decent alternative option to Hypex or similar. Looking forward to any user experience with it here, hopefully I can have another option to recommend to friends :)

Exactly! Just wait, I'm sure in a few weeks time, we'll see another SMSL SU-XX piece of future e-waste for neophytes to froth about:facepalm:

Why does the display have to stand proud of the case, looking like someone's stuck it 'on the wonk' on the front panel? Looks like an afterthought bolt-on goodie rather than a proper part of the design. They do a dac like this and I feel the same there as well.

To answer a comment above, if it's properly designed, it doesn't *have* to be e waste in a few years. My own amps are fifty plus years old and counting and still do the job really well...

Why does the display have to stand proud of the case. Looks like an afterthought bolt-on goodie rather than a proper part of the design. If the display has to be that height, then why not make the case slightly taller to accommodate it? They do a dac like this and I feel the same there as well.

Seems to be their new design, matching DAC & amplifier:

Yes seems to be close to -2db at 20kHz, for an amp of this price is not great

Gallium Nitride transistors huh? that's what they're using in the newer radars for the F-35.

Who cares? They're still using selenium rectifiers in C-130s-( H models and prior aircraft).

Ever smell a failed one?

This amp is rather intended for an audience looking for power... certainly at the expense of low distortion (all things considered)

As a power amplifier why does it need that display?
