I have a few streamers but I’m am using the Auris audifi and I have tried both coax and opt . I have also tried controlling it from my Apple phone 4STREAM app and my Samsung tablet with bubble upnp.

I am using a Auris audifi and the 4STREAM app. I have also tried to see if it was the app and I tried to use the Bubbleupnp app for my raspberry pi. It was same. It controlled it and it displays 44.1

What is the, "it", that switches from 44.1 to 48? The DAC doesn't switch sample rates. It's told what sample rate to use. The only setting on the DAC that could possible affect sample rate is the selection for UAC1 USB 1.1 or UAC2 USB 2.0. That should be set to UAC2 USB 2.0 if you are connecting to contemporary USB device that supports asynchronous USB. UAC1 only goes up to 96 kHz. It's not the DAC that is deciding to play at 44.1.

I am not using a USB I am using the coax digital from the streamer and I tried to use the tv optical digital output to see if I could get a higher resolution and when I switched from coax to optical it displayed 48. I was watching a YouTube video that was supposed to be 96k.

I have checked my app for Qobus and 4STREAM and they are both set 24/192.

YouTube does not support 192kHz audio. All uploaded audio is resampled to 22.05, 44.1, and 48kHz, regardless of what the original sample rate was!


You can check what audio format is being streamed from YouTube's servers to your TV by enabling the "Stats for nerds". This window will pop up:


As you can see, YouTube sends audio to my playback device in the 251 format.
If you now check the list of possible formats above, you will see that format 251 is 48kHz Opus with 130Kbps VBR.

Okay , thanks for your help with the TV signal. I am still trying to figure out how to get the highest resolution from the streamer. I have a Qobuz subscription called a studio I think I paid for a year a few months ago. It displays high resolution on the 4STREAM app that is controlling the streamer.

I just solved the issue. I turned out the Auris audifi coax digital out is limited to cd 44.1 resolution.

Not on the dac. This has to do with the source, possibly windows which resamples everything before sending it out.

Yes, you are correct. I use Jriver , xmos driver and DO100 set to USB2 to achieve USB direct output that DO100 displays.

Okay now it's my turn to share some experience with this DAC. And unfortunately it wasn't the best.
I have three issues with it. I quickly compiled videos for two of them to better illustrate those issues.

1. When using Toslink (Optical) input, SMSL DO100 skips some audio (stutters) if playback starts after an idle period.

2. Optical / Toslink input is extremely loose. The connector sits unstable and shaky.

3. When switching sample rate, around 0.5s of audio is skipped, similar to the issue №1. My previous DAC (SMSL Sanskrit mk.II) also doesn't' have this issue.

Well, there you go. Just wanted people to know what kind of quirks they might get with this device.

FTR, on a Win10 machine with the latest driver, I get flawless playback over USB. I can switch from all fromats without popping, clicking, or delays. Very happy with the overall performance.

Where I run into issues is with an old Squeezebox Touch using a plugin to stream high rez digital across the USB. Then, I will get and initial pop when switching from 44.1 to DSF. Once the tracks start palying there is no pop, just when the switching occurs. I believe it is a driver issue and possibly Linux related. My solution is to not use the DO100 with the Touch but instead use the Topping E50 which is flawlless.

I have not tried the the other digital inputs on the DO100 so can't comment.

The only pop I ever get is the initial switch from DSD to PCM that happens only if the unit is powered down and back up. I just leave it on and mute the display; treat it as an always-on appliance.

I don't even get that on my Windows machine with driver. It is literally perfect. But, lots of popping when hooked to a Squeezebox Touch directly through USB.

Are you using the SMSL ASIO driver with Windows or configured with WASAPI? On Windows 10 with the ASIO driver or if connected to raspi, I get that initial pop. Haven't tried WASAPI.

On the SBT, I used to use one of those and the only popping I got with that was when I was sending it higher bit rate files over WiFi. Resolved when I hooked it up using ethernet but recall that I may have had problems when going above 192 kHz. I replaced the SBT with a raspi device with the raspi display and running Ropieee. I miss the SBT. That was a cool device.

For transparency, it is at the leading edge of DAC's. It's not strange, the DAC should perform superbly with a proper driver, awesome! The pops I experince are with a very old piece of equipment with a third party plug in on a Linux OS. My solution is to just avoid using the DO100 with it. Instead, I use an equally awesome Topping E50 which is flawless with it.

It only happens streaming DSF to the Touch. LMS on QNAP NAS, router to bridge 5GHz connected to Touch with CAT5. When I pull it into windows off the NAS it goes to Foobar2K and no issues are experienced.
