Extraordinary, you seem to know more about me than myself, my ears is lying to me.
This is not about you. It’s about all humans. You are most certainly not an exception.
Why buy a new DAC, CURIOSITY!
But you ask:
Is the SMSL SU-9 a worthwhile upgrade in terms of audio sound quality
So this is about sound quality after all. But:
I’m content with my audio set up.
So why not be curious about the things that actually make a substantial difference in sound quality?

At last, this is just the little advice/information I’m after. Thank you

I should just stick to a budget DAC, all DAC sound the same, don’t do any upgrade as you won’t be able to hear the difference, it’s all in my imagination, placebo effect, maybe there’s something wrong with my hearing?

More pointless subjective nonsense. The DACs weren’t even in the same room at the same time. Auditory memory simply doesn’t work that way.

Guys we tried, and likely failed :)
If he believes the DAC makes such a difference, there is no amount of internet stranger argument that can win over what happened in his brain :)

You must be the ASR GURU?

Curiosity killed the cat!

Curiosity would be testing whether your sound impressions hold true when all senses but your ears have been truly silenced.
This is done via level matching and double blind testing.

What you're doing, which is blindly trusting yourself to be immune to bias, despite decades of science and research proving the opposite, is not only ignorant but also plays right into the hands of fraudsters who will, when given the chance, sell you a wooden "grounding" box with dirt inside for a couple grand and will make you "hear" its miraculous effects by exploiting that very same ignorance.

They will bias you into perceiving nonexistent improvements and you'll be none the wiser. Because how could your ears ever lie to you?

Another ASR GURU, seems to know more about me than myself, I’m now gullible, easy target for fraudsters!

I know that without level matching and blind listening, no one's ears can be trusted.

Not mine, not Amir's, not Andrew Jones' nor Sean Olive's. And not yours.

No one is immune to bias. It takes effort to suspend it, temporarily.

Realizing this is among the best financial insurance that you can take out.

Not realizing this leaves you vulnerable.

So tell me then, when do you stop trusting “your ears”? Audiophile interlinks? Power cables? Fuses? Grounding boxes? Or maybe at cable lifters, or stick-on crystal stones?

Because people make the exact same claims about amazing sound improvements about all these products…

ASR Elitism?

Apologies for upsetting you all for trusting my wonderful ears.

Let’s agree to disagree!

Your the only one claiming superiority here…

But yeah, you’re clearly not interested in answering my question, because you probably won’t like your own answer…

The day I start using a hearing aid is when I stop trusting my ears, does this answer your question?

Referring ASR elitism to you, not me, you definitely would not fall for placebo!

Well, in a sense this answer is even worse. But at least you’re consistent. But what are you even doing here at AudioScienceReview if you ignore all the research done in the time span of almost a hundred years, covering a vast breath of fields?
