SMSL DO100 PRO - HDMI ARC DAC

Just wanted to clarify, this unit, the DO100 Pro does NOT have this switch. Its not underneath, or anywhere on the case. It's also not mentioned anywhere in the manual, or website, so not totally sure where that image came from.

I just leave it on 99 volume as I want maximum output (5v) to my headphone amp. I also assume that this delivers the best signal to noise ratio, but I don't believe it's been measured by amir.
If you truly wanted just 4v output, you'd have to lower the volume and measure the output until you hit 4v.
That switch is present on the DO200Pro, but not on the DO100Pro. The model numbers are similar, so it's easy to get them confused.
DO100 pro MCU V1.3 has now been released on the SMSL support website, this time having the proper flashing tool with English language, I have carried out some very basic tests and it suggests that the filter assignment remains the same between MCU1.1 and MCU 1.3 files, however, the sound signature has been improved (subjective opinion).
The firmware that the DO100 pro originally shipped with was MCU1.0 and I for one, felt that the sound of the DAC became too sterile with less bass definition when I upgraded from the original FW to MCU1.1, it now seems that MCU1.3 has fixed this.
How did I confirm my findings between MCU1.0 and 1.1, well, I asked SMSL to send me a copy of MCU1.0 which they kindly provided and I went back and forth between MCU1.0 and MCU1.1
when selecting the same filter for example Minimum phase fast roll-off (FL7 on 1.0 and FL6 on 1.1) the sound was different with 1.0 sounding better to my ears (better bass definition, less treble harshness and better instrument separation)
I know subjective opinions don't hold much value here but I still felt obliged to mention this for those of you that upgraded your DAC and felt the sound somewhat degrade.
Also, I would invite those of you that have this DAC and have relevant measurement equipment, to request the MCU1.0 and MCU1.1 FW from SMSL and perhaps measure it's output specifically for filter impulse response, frequency response, 1khz FFT and IMD to verify whether or not what I have heard can be shown measurably.
The only thing I am able to verify is the impulse response characteristics and it does seem the filter response characteristic is closer to MCU1.0 with filter assignment still being as it was in MCU1.1
Now in MCU1.3 the sound of the same filter FL6 more closely resembles that of MCU1.0 except the filter arrangement is
FL1 - Minimum phase slow roll-off low dispersion
FL2 - Linear phase apodizing
FL3 - Linear phase fast roll-off
FL4 - Linear phase fast roll-off low ripple
FL5 - Linear phase slow roll-off
FL6 - Minimum phase fast roll-off
FL7 - Minimum phase slow roll-off
Kudos to SMSL for releasing this firmware update.
This post is only intended to highlight that the new firmware has been released on the website and my subjective findings. I am not specifically stating that there was something broken in the previous firmware, the decision to upgrade sits with you, if you do upgrade, it would be interesting to hear your feedback on any perceived impact on sound quality.
