SMSL D300 Review (Balanced DAC)

Im glad I managed to sell mine along everything else from SMSL. Support is junk
My experience with SMSL support is that they're friendly but not overly helpful. That being said, this is a pretty unusual case of a user requesting a firmware package which is normally only flashed at the factory during production. Can you name a single manufacturer who sends out bootloaders and stuff which require special flashing jigs and USB programmers to regular users? I can't think of any major player doing that.

I think it's absolutely reasonable by SMSL to offer a repair at the factory - it just so happens that this wuld be expensive in this specific case due to the user and the manufacturer residing on different continents. The main difference with big names like NAD is that they have physical service centers on most continents, which brings down the shipping costs for users.

Sure but they are still just a gadget brand. They should be more open to requests like that. This is entirely different to HiFi brands with local warranty, retailers

I am even ready to purchase a pre-flashed chip if sending the full firmware is not ethically acceptable. Is it normal to release firmware that turns a working device into a brick? ))
