Please confirm version of USB driver as I would like to try. ThxI just found out from the other thread about the new SMSL (Thesycon) driver for DACs. I updated mine and the startup lag and the soft popping noise with my D300 are gone (1.11 MCU, 1.3 USB). Finally after owning this for months, I have a flawlessly (within my use case) functioning system without any issues whatever small.
Please confirm version of USB driver as I would like to try. Thx
It looks like USB cable or interface related. You can try:I have not tried any other input sources like optical or coax. The bluetooth option however works flawlessly for hours at a stretch.
Have tried all of the above and more but the issue still persists. It looks like USB cable or interface related. You can try:
- other USB cable
- uninstall USB driver, reboot, install USB driver from SMSL site
- play with ASIO buffer settings in DAC driver Control Panel app.
Seems for me like the problem with exact device, I suggest trying once more with different PC/laptop, and connect with the seller about replacing the item.Have tried all of the above and more but the issue still persists.
That means is using DoP instead of native DSD, that's why in the control panel is saying PCM.I've noticed, that when I play DSD via asio in foobar2000 player (I did not try other variants, and settings like DoP are carefully turned off) - the device screen shows DSD, but the XMOS control panel says "ASIO active (PCM mode)". Why is it PCM mode? Or is it some bug in the interface of the XMOS panel, etc?
Also, I can note that DSD is realized poorly in this build: lags and clicks between tracks, changing buffer sizes does not make it any better.
But if it plays a long file, the sound is brilliant

Thank you, now it shows DSD modeIf you install the ASIO+DSD input plugin:
Super Audio CD Decoder - Browse /foo_out_asio+dsd at SourceForge.net
Super Audio CD Decoder input plugin for foobar2000. Decoder is capable of playing back Super Audio CD ISO images, DSDIFF, DSF and DSD WavPack files.…sourceforge.net
It will use Native DSD output on the USB.
Interestingly, this foo_out_asio+dsd-0.4.2 works seamlessly with foobar2000-x64_v2.1, but not with the latest for now v2.24.1 - in this case it has unusable level of glitches in DSD. Will check time to time with new versions of component and core.
It seems I've tried both combinations and noticed no difference, but now it is foo_input_sacd-1.5.11, which is by your linkMust be something else, I use that combination.
Maybe could be you installed the new input_udsd plugin instead of the "old" input_sacd?
Because me and others had similar issues because of it.
The last version works better but still has some reliability issues.
Maybe try the last version 1.5.17, that one is oldIt seems I've tried both combinations and noticed no difference, but now it is foo_input_sacd-1.5.11, which is by your link
Thank you for the link, version foo_input_sacd-1.5.17 works fine with foobar 2.1 as well, but not with f. v2.24.1 So it seems in my case it is foobar version-specific issue. But not a problem for me, since it plays seamlessly now.Maybe try the last version 1.5.17, that one is old

The D300 sounds great, but is one of the buggiest DACs being sold. SMSL doesn't care about bugs or quality. They've long since run away from this thread.I recently got my D300. I noticed some oddities in it.
1. After switching from the USB input, there is no sound on the coaxial input. The sound appears after the device is completely turned off and on in the coaxial input mode.
2. The fixed volume level in DAC mode is much lower than that of my other DAC (SMSL Sanskrit 10 mk2). It is 10-15 percent lower. Therefore, it is difficult to arrange a comparative test between these two devices.
Firmware version 1.30. Are these oddities widespread, or are they only in my device?
