I must return to say how surprised I am by the small amount of power I need. I think this thing goes plenty loud and the floor in my house shakes somewhat when I crank it up. I am not comfortable listening that loud, so this even has... headroom? Also it seems to produce about zero heat.

I am using Wharfedale Diamond 220's and a DIY 10" subwoofer.

I still think it sounds like butt when audio is really quiet. Like 8-bit audio. But in my new house the listening distance is about 5 meters and the living room is an open space design kind of thing, about 80 square meters or so. So that means I never actually use such low volume settings.

The Xover frequency choices are still suboptimal BUT it helps to have separate LPF and HPF settings, at the listening distance acceptable integration is possible for me. But a bit closer to the speakers, it's pretty obvious the subwoofer is playing a bit too high, easy to pinpoint upper bass / low mids to the sub.

Still contemplating trying the DA100.

You can't; that’s not what it’s designed for.
You could attenuate the signal accordingly using a voltage divider, or hack the device internally and tap the signal before the amplifier chip.
Alternatively, you could look for a high-to-low level converter.
