I'm looking to build a 2.1 replacement for the sound bar in bedroom. The limiting factor is depth as the TV is mounted above the mantel on the fireplace. The mantel is only about 8.5" or 21.5cm deep and i need space for the connections behind the reviever/amp. So I need a product that is only about 7" or 18cm deep.

Hdmi in and sub out are a must.

I was originally going to use a wiim amp pro but it's simply too big. The only other product I can find that fits the bill is the smls ao300. Is it a worthy option?

Additionally, I don't mind active speakers if they are small enough in terms of depth. If they have hdmi and sub out. Again, something like The 5's are too deep.

Any recommendations on a reviever/amp or active speakers that would fit in my small space?

I have an extra rsl speedwoofer that's isnt being used and I was eyeing the ascend acoustics htm200s or the emotiva xb1s.

Help me get this system built. My sound bar is junk.

A wiim amp is too big? The speakers also? Just what are your dimension limits?

You could look at the KEF LSX II LT as actives. If the WiiM Amp is too big, I think you're gonna stuggle with amp + passive options.

The depth is the issue the fire place mantel is only 8.5" deep. Anything deeper than that would hang off the front of the mantel. The mantel is the only spot i can put the equipment in the room. I've found passive speakers, I like, that will fit without issue. Its the amp/receiver that I'm struggling with. Seems the only product that might work is the SMLS A0300.

Maybe a Fosi ZD3 to a Fosi BT30D. But man...they are ugly af.

WiiM Amp is 8.54" (includes volume knob, which could probably protrude)
WiiM Ultra is 8.3" (and means you need Active Speakers, or another amp hidden somewhere)

There are active speakers with hdmi arc and sub out. Some have active crossover. US or Europe?

We have the LSX II in our bedroom. Found it on sale last summer for $850. It doubles as an away system for when we go on trips that include a BNB. No complaints.

How handy are you with doing something custom?

I have the 2-channel version... ordered it a few years ago from the US and it took a while to arrive, but it still works great in a small "soundbar" style enclosure I built for my parents several years ago.
It isn't much power -- and is a bit over-priced for what it is -- but it works with HDMI ARC and has HDMI-CEC functionality (which is ultimately necessary to adjust volume). It also has pre-outs and the supposed ability to program some DSP, but you need a TI PurePath programing board. I would not advise dealing with the DSP functionality unless the TI PurePath programming is something you have experience with.

There's also the Arylic B50. At 185mm x 155mm x 50mm, dimensions appear to meet your requirements.
Can't speak to the quality here, but it is a much more complete and feature-rich version of the above for roughly the same price.

I think this (O-Noorus D4) would fit in your requirements nicely, has the dimension and features you want.
It’s available in Amazon and so you have 30 days safety to make up your mind.

P.S. If you do decide to look at D4 then pls read on my post about some issues which O-Noorus are working on optimizing.

sub out are a must.
If you want the "point one" LFE channel you'll need something with a surround decoder. The LFE isn't included in the stereo downmix and without it the sub will only give you the "regular bass" from the other channels.

Doesn't my Powernode hit the target? Surround decoding, eARC, amplifier, and 7.5 inch deep? Or is that extra 1 cm too much? It's supposed to get a Dirac upgrade too.
$880 refurbished.

Maybe with right-angle adapters for the HDMI and LFE out, it's short enough?

If the ZD3 will fit, so will the ZA3. They're a pretty nice looking pair I reckon (I have a ZA3 - has been flawless).
I think I'm leaning this direction. The sell black replacement knobs for the orange and i have room to stack them between the mantel and TV

The only thing is I don’t think the Fosi setup will let you high-pass the speakers when you add a sub

I might give this a try too

Probably the best option by i was trying to keep my total build under 1k. Speakers are 400, sub I already have, that leaves me 600 for the other components and this is 1100. Love this option but it's pricey.
