Singxer SA-1 Review (Balanced Headphone Amp)

Maybe someone can send in a modded version for Amir to test (with and without the DC bypass mod).
do you think what I perceive as improvements will be detected on his graphs?

Sigh, just what we needed, perpetuating magic tricks :p
perhaps my perceived improvement may be greatly due to the placebo effect.

I am deeply sorry that you returned this amp without knowing what it sounds like after the mod. Why did you return this and I dont understand why you got a Sabaji instead. I agree it is cheaper but.....
Well, you didn't try the Sabaj amp did you? For me I'm glad I got my money back, there was 0 sound difference and the Sabaj amp has magnitudes more headroom than the Sinxer, if I ever need it.

But yes the SA-1 seems nice with a balanced DAC + from its XLR output, but that's not super versatile though is it :p I prefer amps that work just as good on all inputs and all outputs.

Actually there is no difference between balanced and unbalanced inputs on the SA-1. The unbalanced input is balanced before the potentiometer and amplified to the same level as the balanced input.
I use the SA-1 with both inputs, all headphone outputs and as a preamp.
I haven't noticed any limitations yet.

I've just acquired an SA-1 and using it as a preamp for my stereo amplifier. Chain is Topping E50 -> SA-1 -> Amp. I am getting a pop from the speakers when going from off to pre switch. Is the Pre setting going through some active part of the amp causing this? I noticed the SA-1 gets warm in just Pre mode as well. I was hoping the Pre function would be passive.

Sorry, but the preamp section of the SA-1 is of course active.
The cracking is probably caused by the relays of the outputs.
Are the devices connected symmetrically or via cinch?
Did you connect the SA-1 to an integrated amplifier or a power amp?

That maybe but that noise at 4-6 oclock is noticeable , try it yourself with no music playing it's a dead giveaway but most with hearing damage here can't hear it.
Found the issue, cheap XLR cables.

Hi guys hope i haven't ask this before just have a issue with my Amp the SP200, I have the Hifiman Ananda and Dac SMSL VMV D1SE with the SP200 which the XLR inputs are defective but looking at a different amp looking at this Singxer-SA1 or Jotunheim 2. What would you think be a more bass out of my Anandas and not as harsh highs? or dry and still sound.

Both will be absolutely fine. You are buying a amplifier after all and not a equilizer

thanks. I am really looking to tame the Ananda in the highs and make them more bass and warmth more musical. I listen to Rap, Hip-Hop reggae, and r&b. And Spanish music. I like vocals to shine too in females or in males. Just want to make sure I pick right amp. As I'm not sure if I over did it in the Dac department with the D1SE.

If you are looking for a balanced headphone amp then I think the SA-1 is a good choice. For me it reproduces music on my AKG K812 just as well as my Violectric V100. And the K812 is known to be a bit bitchy (in reality just honest) in the treble range and it also reproduces the bass rather neutrally.

I bought the Audeze LCD-5 as it matched my Singxter perfectly. It is now going to be burned in as some dudes recomennded. Audeze provided gloves but I am really expected to wear them every time I listen to the phones? I run them with the gain set to low.

Audeze only wants you to wear them when you touch your LCD-5.
Especially if you have already creamed your hands that day ;)

I know this is a technical forum but I love cute things and what I suggest will improve the wife acceptance factor of your gear as I am a stylish fashion lady myself.

Well, Is there any way to make this amp more beautiful by replacing its volume knob with a big red one? Where can I buy volume knobs shat fit this box? It will look soo elegant with one and more suitable for a feminine lady. :)

You won't find much in this size, maybe silver or gold.
Diameter 32mm x 13mm (12-15mm is also possible), bore is 6.1mm (up to 6.4mm would be ok), attachment to the axle with a grub screw.
Ask one of the Aliexpress sellers if the "Aluminum Potentiometer Knob 32 x 13" is also available in red, or if they can have it anodized for you.
Alternatively, have your aluminum potentiometer knob anodized, have a new knob turned and anodized at a lathe shop near you, or have your knob painted red with metalflake (airbrush in car or motorcycle painting / effect paintwork).
