Simplest USB -> XLR DAC that doesn't totally suck

I've tested the DS2 with a good 4.4mm -> XLR adapter into a PA speaker and it works perfectly. Problem solved!
 
For live sound I recommend the Radial Engineering USB Pro - it's bullet proof and pretty much the standard for live sound applications.

Another interface I see and recommended is the RME Babyface Pro - it's more expensive but an excellent interface.

These are designed for live audio / recording and have XLR connectors - not sure why you'd want to mess around with a non-standard 4.4mm adapter and gain mismatch of a headphone out when there are devices like this designed for purpose.
