Sigberg Audio Saranna (fullrange, cardioid active floorstander) development thread

Within the next months we will have some review units that will be available for sale in a few countries. I'm hoping to sell them locally rather than having to ship them back, as shipping a pallet by air is pretty expensive. :)

So probably around September (+/- a month) we will have Saranna pairs available in at least the following countries:

USA
Canada
Denmark

These will be pairs that are basically brand new beyond having been part of a review, but that will still sell at a significant discount. Please reach out to me by DM or email if you're interested. Most likely all pairs will be the Shady White version.

Have you shipped to Amir?
He could become your distributor.

Haven't shipped to Amir, and we do not have the margins for a distributor model (where both a distributor and then a retailer would each require a cut of the margin), only direct to consumer and in some select instances direct to retailer.

We are in the process of partnering up with https://www.dreamscapesav.com/ that are working to establish a presence (with Sigberg Audio in showrooms) in New York, Florida and eventually Los Angeles.

Next week the first batch of Saranna cabinets will arrive, which means we finally have everything needed to start producing both presales and new orders! :D

Summer vacation will not be prioritized this year, so regular sales of Saranna will open on Saturday (July 19th)! ~4 weeks delivery must be expected at least initially.

Read more and order (soon) at https://www.sigbergaudio.com/products/saranna

I’m going to go back from the beginning and read this thread because I wonder how these compare to the Mantas with 2 10D subwoofers. After the awesome demo I had at @Purité Audio I’m seriously considering the Mantas……

We have a gentleman on the forum (@MLDT) who has auditioned both, and landed on a Manta system. But I think he did that mostly because the Sarannas were not available at the time, as he wanted floorstanders. But if I remember correctly I think he commented that he didn't think he would be able to tell them apart in a blind test. So they are pretty similar.

But @Purité Audio will feature the Sarannas too, a pair will probably arrive there some time in September.

A couple of behind the scenes photos from the Seas anechoic chamber, where the Saranna had to stand up side down, as the microphone setup there can't elevate high enough.

While the systems don't sound exactly the same, I think the choice between Manta and Saranna would come down mainly to preferred form factor as well as capacity.

The Manta being a modular system can be configured to have higher dynamic capacity than the Saranna. Also, if you are going to use subwoofers, Manta would be the preferred choice. While if you'd prefer to not have subwoofers, Saranna is the way to go.

Thank you, there might be a chance that I use Mantas for LCR in my dual use home theater and music listening system......I agree with Manta being more modular and a better fit for my use case.

We don't really offer single Mantas to be sold at the moment (with regards to the center channel). But the aforementioned gentleman who bought the Manta system purchased a single SBS.1 to use as the center channel in his system. That's the same coax in both, so with regards to tonality and sound signature that works very well. :)

Thank you, that a single SBS would be more convenient.

Looks great, but $34k? You're competing with some seriously great speakers at that price point which can now also be found already on the used market. Speaker looks cool though, congrats!

It's $24k not $34k. That includes shipping, any import taxes and VAT, 5 year warranty..

If you look at other high end active speakers you have for instance the Focal Diva Utopia ($39k), or the Dynaudio Confidence 20A ($24k for a 2-way bookshelf), so I wouldn't say our prices are crazy in comparison.

Beyond that there's not a whole lot of speakers like this one out there at all. If you want to purchase something different, that's of course possible both at a lower and higher price.

With regards to the used market, it doesn't make sense to evaluate new prices against used prices. At the very least, compare it to the original new price of whatever used product you are looking at.

OK, when you just wrote $ I was assuming you meant USD.

After a long pause from the presales period, Saranna is now available for purchase directly from our website at https://www.sigbergaudio.com/products/saranna :D

They will be available for audition at @Purité Audio in September probably, and at DreamScapes AV in the US at a time yet to be determined. :)

i finally got the theater room up and running, Still plenty of measurements to take, and some room treatment and calibration and EQ-ing to do, but I am already pretty impressed! the SBS behind the screen as a center channel work wonderfully well and blends in perfectly with the 2 L and R Mantas. Speech is already crystal clear and so is dispersion into the room, the whole front LCR is perfectly coherent and blends in perfectly as a whole. Really impressed so far and will only get better!

Nice, can't wait to hear how it comes together when everything is properly set up. :)

I shared a picture in the Manta thread here: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/...peakers-development-thread.28255/post-2357827 :)

I've had a summer holiday for a couple of weeks now, and spending some time simply listening to music for a change (for the sake of enjoyment, rather than with the intent of developing speakers).

During this period I have had the Sarannas in the living room. After a session today, here are some of my reflections, which I understand is completely subjective and anecdotal - so take them as you will. :)

* When turning up the sound, all that happens is that.. the volume goes up. No added coloration from the room. No change in dynamics. No feeling whatsoever that it's becoming "too loud".

* Vocals are simply stunning, to the point where my eyes get moist on my favorite tracks.

* The dynamics and transients are so immediate that I literally jump in surprise during sudden changes in the music.

* Song after song after song sound .. exactly as it should.

I've had a SBS.1 + Inkognito setup in my own living room for a couple of years - that system will now be replaced. The Sarannas in the Shady White color are here to stay. :D
