Sigberg Audio Active Speakers and Subwoofers (main thread)

I went to Moers to the analog audio event. The demo at hörzone was pretty bad. The guy doing the demos was playing terrible music. Getting through Rod Stewart’s “My girl” from beginning to the very end was a true test of perseverance. Sounded awful, harsh and way too midforward. The guy seemed to be in an bad mood, he mumbled a few things and then played an awful beatles song. Had to leave.

Tried again later on. Malia playing “Turner’s ship”, her voice sounded so annoying, sitting through this was not easy. To top it off he played bruce spingsteen’s “Born in fhe USA”….   Do you want to show how great these speakers are?

The demo at dr. Feickert was better. What I noticed at many demo rooms was how midforward music sounded with a somewhat raw edge, it hurt my ears when playing loud. Is this the “analog vibe”? In this room they played better music, but the sound wasn’t very convincing. I think the saranna’s should be capable of much more then was heard here today!

@Puddingbuks Thank you for sharing. I have never heard anyone describe the Sarannas (or any of our speakers) as too forward or harsh. If I get negative comments on the tonality it's usually that it sounds a bit dark.

In both these rooms the speakers are way further from the rear wall than recommended (perhaps partially due to the sloping ceiling), and if that's not compensated with increasing the bass level, I guess they could have been lacking in the bass, and as a result you will get too much in the higher registers.

I am sorry the demos didn't give you a proper representation of the speakers.

@Puddingbuks If you got the same feeling of the sound in many rooms not just these two, it could be the room(s) to some extent too of course. Hotel rooms / conference rooms at hifi shows are pretty difficult to get good sound in, so it takes a bit of work, which apparently was not put in here. They should probably have brought some acoustical / dampening panels as well.

We showcased the Sarannas at the Oslo Hifi show this weekend as well, got decent sound there - somewhat uneven bass in the room depending onwhere you sat, which is not unusual. We did some adjustments Sunday morning to improve the bass a bit. Lots of nice people and great feedback. :)

The rooms were very small, just your average hotel room, so around 3,5 x 4,5 meters. And yes, very few rooms did sound nice. The ggntkt room also dissapointed. Playing Alanis Morisette’s album there, the record sounded a little distorted and uneven.

Probably need to go to a digital only event. As this was an “analog” show, people used tapes and records. Lots of pops and cracks to be heard. Not my cup of tea. :)

Hotel rooms are what you will typically get at hifi shows, yes. To be honest it seems like you had a certain bias towards the entire show and its analog focus.. as you say perhaps the wrong show for you. :)

They also seemed to play music you did not enjoy, which could of course have been someone else's favorite recording. It looks like they had a streamer in the Hörzone setup, did you ask them to play music you were familiar with?
