Note 2025-04-20:
I decided to create sort of a "main thread" about Sigberg Audio since the other ones are about individual products, and I don't want to have to create new threads about general / non-product specific things (like I have in the past). So this will theoretically be less messy. This thread is a result of a merge of a number of older threads that the mods helped me out with, which is why the topics jump a bit in the beginning of this thread. :)

Anyway, going forward - I will share general announcements and info in this thread rather than start new / separate threads, and you are also free to ask any questions here.

----

At any given time we typically have some demo units (used for hifi shows or other demo situations), and/or B-stock that has been damaged for some reason or other. As an example we recently had two international shipments being damaged due to careless handling in connection with a customs control.

So we have units that are almost like new, and some with significant surface damage. However, everything is verified to be in perfect technical condition before being offered for sale, and will be sold with a full 5 year technical warranty. There is a significant discount (20-40%) to be had, depending on the condition of the specific item.

We currently have demo / B-stock units of all products, including the Manta(!) - please contact me in a DM if you are interested in something, and we can see if we can find something to suit your needs!

We've had more or less the same website for four years (with some updates along the way of course), so it was time for some renovation. :) And I'm pretty happy with the result!

Some of the changes:
  • New visual style and layout
  • New and reorganized front page
  • Brand new "About" section with "Sigberg Audio storyline", "Sigberg Audio approach" and finally "The Wizard of Ås" which is an interview with me, so this new website has a bit more information about me and the company.
  • More extensive use of videos and large pictures
  • The entire website is now full width / full screen more or less no matter how large screen you have, and of course also adapted to mobile.
  • Chat is available directly on the website and there's also a contact form at the bottom of most pages, making it much easier to get in touch.
  • New product pages
  • etc etc

The website can be found at https://www.sigbergaudio.com
The site was launched yesterday and there will probably be minor adjustments the next few days. So I'd be happy to take any positive or negative feedback, and of course I will also appreciate a nudge if you find something that is wrong or buggy so we can try to fix that. :D

Looks good. :)

Although I would change this;

An active speaker system designed from the ground up to sound awesome where it matters: In your room. With your music.

to this;

"An active speaker system designed from the ground up to sound awesome where it matters - in your room, with your music."

And maybe this;

Add the ability to tailor tonality to match your room and taste. Finally, throw in personal, expert advice included with your purchase, followed by free support for life.

to this;

"Add the ability to tailor the tonality to match your room and taste. Finally, inclusive of personal expert advice with your purchase, along with free support for life."

I assume you don't intend to ship to Asia-Pacific Countries?

Thank you for your feedback, I will look into the wording!

With regards to shipping, we do claim to ship worldwide, but checkout is not possible for all countries. If you try to do that, you're asked to contact us to discuss options. There are at least two reasons for this:

  • We want to ensure we can honor our promise around warranty and serviceability when shipping half way around the world in a way that is acceptable to the customer.
  • Our current shipping pricing is a combination of free shipping and flat rates, and for some countries we'd like to understand and be able to adjust the shipping cost before offering a flat rate.

In summary we could ship to an Asia-Pacific country, but would like to get in touch with the customer up front.

This really ought to be opt-in nowadays.

This really ought to be opt-in nowadays.

Yes, as long as you are forced to make a choice / accept it (not just enabling them without your consent). They don't have to be off by default as far as I understand.

Great website, very attractive photos and layout.
I did not know you specialize in active speakers only, I thought passives were an option too, good to have it clarified front and center.

Thank you, I appreciate the feedback! And yes, active speakers only. :)

Solid website, I will refrain from making copy suggestions (I go on ASR to procrastinate from work, not do work) but the visuals and overall look are very crisp!

Thank you! :) As English is not my native language, and copywriting is not my profession - I would be very surprised if the copy was perfect. But I'm happy to keep improving it based on feedback! :)

Sharing a post about upcoming price adjustments that we've shared on social media and our newsletter here as well:

At Sigberg Audio, we don’t create products to fit price points—we focus on building the best loudspeaker systems possible, and the price reflects what it takes to get there. Every Sigberg Audio product is the result of meticulous R&D, ensuring our loudspeaker systems break new ground and stand apart from anything else on the market.

In 2024, we partnered with a new EU based cabinet manufacturer renowned for delivering excellent craftsmanship. This manufacturer produces exclusive cabinets for speakers priced well over $100,000, ensuring that Sigberg Audio speakers not only sound exceptional but also look stunning in any setting. Our commitment to sourcing from European suppliers reflects our dedication to quality, sustainability, and supporting local craftsmanship.

While we’ve always gone the extra mile for our customers, we now officially include personal, expert advice with every purchase. This is an extremely valuable add-on that is certain to improve your sound quality and music enjoyment. We'll assist with everything from placement and component recommendations to room and frequency response analysis.

Additionally, like many industries, we’ve faced rising material and production costs in recent years. Rather than compromise on the quality and performance you expect, we’ve absorbed much of these increases ourselves while implementing only a small price adjustment.

As a result we will be increasing prices by 10% (on average) across the board, effective December 10th, 2024. This adjustment is just one step in ensuring Sigberg Audio products reflect the extraordinary craftsmanship, performance, and personal support we provide. While our current prices have been extremely competitive for the level of quality we deliver, we’re aligning them with the value our products represent.

If you’ve been considering a Sigberg Audio system, now is the perfect time to secure it at the current price. Future adjustments may follow as we continue to grow and refine our offerings.
Thank you for your continued trust in Sigberg Audio. We remain committed to and passionate about bringing your favorite music and memories to life.

2024 is coming to an end, and it marks the first year where we've sold more abroad than in our domestic market here in Norway. I like to think ASR has something to do with that! As a consequence, and to ensure foreign customers see a familiar top level domain, we are changing our website address from .no to www.sigbergaudio.com

Some of the countries we've sold to in 2024 includes Finland, The Netherlands, France, Ireland, England, USA, Canada and French Polynesia(!)

They published a long background article about Sigberg Audio in Hifi.nl today (available in both Dutch and English). They're going in to quite a bit of detail both on the company and the products for those who want something to read during the weekend! :)

Some concepts may be difficult to grasp when just reading a text, so I've decided to try to explain some of the ideas behind our products in a more easily digestive way. First up is cardioid. The above video will tell you briefly how it works and what it does in less than 90 seconds. :)

For the more in-depth explanation we have written more about it in an article here:
https://www.sigbergaudio.com/blogs/news/designing-a-loudspeaker-the-manta

I'm also copying the relevant text below for those who want to stay on ASR. :)

Cardioid: Why?

Traditional speakers radiate sound in all directions. This means less energy at the listening position. Severe reflections from the walls leaves you with a distorted and inferior version of the original sound.

The unique enclosure of the MANTA has a cardioid radiation pattern, directing most of the energy towards the listener. The result is better sound even in less than perfect rooms.

The vented midrange chamber reduces reflections from the side walls and the wall behind the speakers. The result is increased clarity and improved soundstage. This is what gives the MANTA its unique vocal performance, and ability to sound clear and tidy even on complex music productions

The MANTA achieves cardioid like performance down to ~80hz, improving the experience of bass pressure and punch in the listening position. The tight and consistent midbass experience is crucial for the rhythmic, dynamic nature of many music genres.

Cardioid: How?

The Manta features a dual cardioid system, where the four octaves from 100hz to 1600hz is covered by two individual cardioid systems and two drivers, instead of one. This means that instead of loosing efficiency, the system is roughly as effective as a traditional sealed system.

As the frequency range of a cardioid system increases, you'll get gradually increasing cancellation towards the front and reduced efficiency. This is avoided by setting up a cardioid system with a more narrow frequency band. Incidentally this merges well with our philosophy of having a dedicated driver in the important midbass range.

As far as I know there is no other dual cardioid speaker out there, so this is a pretty unique approach that gives the benefit of cardioid without loss of efficiency.

There are also many who wonders if the cardioid effect is placement sensitive. The answer is no. The slots on the side of the speakers actually cancel out sound as the sound leaves the speakers. It does not cancel out reflections from the walls. The sound is already attentuated when it reaches the walls in the first place.

Nice video. I did notice that the voiceover says bass with a “short a” which in English is a fish, rather than a “long a” which is correct for bass. You can alter the script to say “base” which is the same correct pronunciation and the automated voiceover software won’t get confused by it.

Thanks, not so easy to detect for me as a Norwegian, as it is called bass in Norwegian as well, and we actually do pronouce it like the fish. :D

So here I will share general announcements, and you are also free to ask any questions here.
