Thorbjørn’s new ‘Saranna’ floorstanders have arrived!
Saranna next to SBS,

Subjective review:-
WOW!
Keith

Saranna naked,

Keith

That is tidied!
Keith

The Saranna’s are really awesome, bass is incredible, extremely dynamic.
I haven’t any Mantas here at the moment to make a direct comparison but well they are breathtaking and probably more domestically acceptable than the four box Mantas.

The Sarannas, had an outing for a review but are now back!
They really are superb loudspeakers, they have bass they have dynamics, tonally they sound just like the other fine loudspeakers we have here.
If you are fortunate enough to have a larger room / sit further away and really want a totally uncompressed dynamic, full-range sound the Sarannas could be perfect.
I am going to tidy the cables!

Yes darling, I will run the hoover around tomorrow, after I get back from the shops.

Thorbjørn builds loudspeakers commercially in a way that I would probably offer them too: high-level coaxial loudspeakers and active amplification, with a bass range that can be adjusted to the room.
In terms of the requirements, this is very well done, and I wish Sigberg Audio good sales figures and hope that they can hold their own in the market.

One of these Eversolo T8, and a pair of Sigberg ‘Sarannas’ digital out from the T8 straight into the Sarannas’ AES inputs.

Jonathan Gorse was kind enough to review the Sarannas for ‘The Ear’ which you can read here should you choose.
Jonathan uses ATC SCM40’s as his ‘reference’ and although he has a subwoofer he only uses it for A/V.
Having had the chance to listen to the ATCs and Sarannas side by side I think he should dial in the sub properly ( his system is traditional) so a processor of some sort and then also use the sub for music.

Thanks, I did that.
This
"Its only vice is a tendency to sound a little lean in the midband, which can occasionally make vocals and piano sound cooler and less full-bodied than, for example, my own ATC speakers."
He could have easily fixed this with the PEQ, but he probably needed to include a small negative point to justify his ATC speakers.

I relatively often find that we get "Cons" that feels a bit made up when our speakers are reviewed, but I guess that's a good thing. :)

I personally don't agree the midband is lean, but it might be leaner than the ATC for all I know, so it depends what the reference is. Anyway, a good review and Jonathan who did the review has been accommodating and polite along the way, so it's all good. :)

Hello Thorbjørn,
how could the midrange sound thin or lean with a membrane area of over 200 square centimeters?
Normally, most people find the midrange radiation in a living room to be a little too "fat," and the timbre of the Saranna can be easily adjusted if necessary. This is a point that was also highlighted as positive in the test.

Well, not so important.
If it's the chassis in the Saranna that I suspect, it also has a very good ratio of Bl to mms and therefore very good impulse control, which may sound dry to some at first, but is simply precise.
In addition, it has a high dispersion angle of 100 degrees in the high frequencies for an 8-inch coax, which guarantees a wider listening base (more widely distributed sweet spot).
I like your speakers, as I already wrote, and I listen to very similar coaxial speakers myself, which have very similar specifications. For me, there is nothing better—only different.

The ATC 40s aren’t anywhere near full range, we had their active 50s here for some years and they too despite their size don’t offer extended bass.
Therefore the midrange does appear to be more prominent, as I mentioned above I think Jonathan should integrate a sub or two.
His system was ‘traditional’ no provision for EQ or sub integration, but I suppose as a reviewer he needs all those separate boxes.

Sarannas and Eversolo T8 now with added optical goodness, they are immense speakers.

Or maybe he is right

Or maybe he is right

All our speakers deviate slightly from flat in the upper bass / lower midrange (where most vocals reside), but in the way that they have more energy in this area, not less.

That being said, I don't know how the ATCs he compared them to sounds. But generally speaking, that vocals are not natural and full is a surprising and unusual feedback to our systems.
