Hi everyone, I'm looking for a headphone to update the 660s that I have always found too dark and veiled, I am undecided between these 2 models, I am interested in detail, the instruments separation, the neutrality of all frequencies and that it is very engaging on a musical level
prevailing genres I listen to: pop/rock 80, new wave, dreampop
What do you know how to tell me about it and which one would you take in my place? Other alternatives in addition to the two cited?

Sennheiser 660s? The Senn 66x series are rather neutral in the highs. If you want more highs try the Beyerdynamic DT990 pro.

Throw in the options OLLO S5X, OLLO X1 or original DT1990

I would be a huge fan of just buying the HD6XX. Of course right now I'm using a set of DT990 with a different set of pads that kill the treble spike per Mr. Solder's measurements (my ears seem to agree with the measurements). My HD650 (close cousin if not identical to 6XX) are awaiting a pad replacement that is in the mail. All of their foam parts are beyond worn (I can see the drivers) but they've seen regular/almost daily and often several hours a day use for 13 or 14 years and this will be their first headband replacement and second pad replacement. I'm cheap and don't replace them as often as I probably should. The fact that I've had them as my main headphone for so many years should say something. The lack of headband foam gave me sore spots on my head so I figure it's worth the time/money to replace it. We'll see how that goes.
