SHOW US your listening room )

I spent the first 20 years of my career in the creative/print/graphics arts industry. I was on the technical/IT side of things, but I supported hundreds of small print/graphics places around Minneapolis back in the late 90s before the industry started to rally struggle here with the whole dot-com explosion. Every time I see photos of your space I get all nostalgic and feel happy and warm inside.

Thanks @anotherhobby. We most likely know some common people, Minneapolis is a great city for the book arts and the state treats its artists with some dignity. I'm firmly entrenched in the mid 20th century and digital has very little to do with my work. Still casting on my Linotype and I primarily make fine press books. I'm like the McIntosh of books - read the same but slightly elevated price point and very small editions.

This is not an acoustically treated space, but it’s arranged with an acoustic mindset. Surfaces are covered with curtains, canvas frames, carpets, and fabric-treated areas.
The latest changes are the removal of the coffee table and the covering of the glass tiled door with acoustic foam wrapped in corduroy.

The room is in a kind of constant adjustment and improvement with periodic testing of placements and listening positions.
Of course, nothing would have come close to the current result if not finalized through Dirac Live.

I would describe my current sound as addictive. Incredible quality to my ears.

That’s a lotta speaker drivers!
:)
What are those tower speakers?
:cool:JBL L890’s. I love the idea to use a ultra high frequency tweeter that plays from 20 kHz to 40 kHz!

Here’s the Klipschorns set up correctly in the corners, when designing the house the width of the room and placement of the windows are key!

For debut, here are a few pictures of my listening room.

Speaker: KS Digital D606 (3-way, 6.5" coaxial with horn)
Subwoofer: EVE Audio TS110 (10", passive radiator)

Connected to the laptop via an audio interface. Calibrated with REW and equalized using the APO equalizer.

Simply a lovely hobby :)

Welcome to ASR @CB89 ! May I ask what speakers you are using? In general speakers should not be turned on the side like that, unless they are designed to use that way. This is because most speakers have much poorer vertical directivity than horizontal.

Looking at the controls on the centre of each speaker it would seem they are intended to be deployed as they are.

Interesting horn-centered coax - that makes this speaker the like of, let's say, KH310, with bass driver on one side and mid-high on the other - with possibly better vertical directivity here.

@Keith_W
Thank you. They are KS Digital studio monitors, model D606. This model has been discontinued for a long time, and there is relatively little information about them online. They are intended for horizontal placement, but due to their coaxial design, they can also be positioned vertically.

I like the look of those speakers!

I believe you are correct, although I never saw that brand of speaker before. New to me!

Since we are posting old photos ... this was my first hifi system. Mission 760i speakers, NAD 3020i amplifier, and a Sony Walkman as a source. One of my first upgrades was from a tape Walkman to a CD Walkman.
I'm digging the TV. Was it color or black & white?

Geez, I am not that old!! It was a colour TV. My parents had a B&W TV in the 70's and I remember when they upgraded it to colour. It was a horrendous thing, it kept going on the blink and we had to call the TV repairman out every few months. I don't know why early TV's were so unreliable, thankfully we don't have that problem any more.

As I recall black & white TVs were produced in the late 80's. I think at the same time CD Walkmans were first in production. But, my apologies. I'm 62.

Hello @olds1959special,
Really impressive audio-visual system you have built!

If you would be interested, your possible kind participation(s) on my hosting thread "Let's share diagrams (and photos) of our total physical audio system and the whole signal path, with a few words and/or links" with your total signal-path diagram (hopefully including details of DSP configuration) and typical SPL response curve at your listening position, plus not only the above wonderful photo but also some additional photos of your listening room (looks you also have rear SPs), will be highly welcome!

You possible such participation will be much worthwhile for many people's reference and interests, I do believe.

Thanks, I would like to participate in that. I have two listening systems and my other one has rear speakers. And as well, I still need to break out my ECM8000 and take proper measurements since I’ve been using my phone.
