And finally, here’s a remote control I had custom designed. I was sick of manipulating the volume and other features with a smart screen or remote with tiny buttons. I just wanted a nice big volume knob that I could use from my listening position. I much prefer the haptics.

It’s a really nice ergonomic design, the teardrop wood base feels great and supports my wrist wonderfully.

Plus, the volume knob has all sorts of additional functions if I want them, push down to mute or dim the sound, double tap to change inputs, it can work with any of my preamplifiers, it can control volume and picture when I’m watching a movie, etc:

Yeah ! you are a drummer ?
I'm also a drummer; I played in several bands here in France for several years. I tested quite a few snare drums, in particular, for the magazine "batteur magazine".

You can hear me drumming here :

Interesting seeing that reissue cover of the Pablo/Tubby album. I also have it on a reissue, but it's with the original cover artwork.

Nice room.

What album is in the frame?, btw.
Thanks, it's a US pressing by Shanachie records, but on Pablo's Message label. The track listing on the sleeve and the label are incorrect, too, but it's good vinyl and sounds great.

The album in the frame is the original UK pressing of Catch A Fire with the zippo lighter cover. Island produced about 20,000 of these, but the sleeve is very fragile so not many copies have survived well over the years.

Nice playing. I'm an amateur drummer (more of a drum collector these days). Here is a recording I recently made with dad jam band.

why the speakers so far from the front wall? Isn't SBIR an issue? are you using subs for music?

Hi,

If you look at The post I made before that one just above it you’ll see a photo from just outside the room of my other Thiel speakers.
And you can see that my home theater speakers (in black) occupy the space near the back wall, and the floor standing two channel speakers - my Thiels and Joseph - have to be pulled clear of the room entrance so we can get in and out of the room, which means pulling them up close to the sofa.

However, as it happens, that is still the location I would prefer for the speakers in any case. Because I like to be about seven or at the most 8 feet away from my loudspeakers, and that’s where they end up in this position.
Both speakers work very well when pulled out into the room like that and away from the wall behind them. They sound very evenly balanced.

I do not use subwoofers as I do not feel the need. For a while I had dual subwoofers, a very high quality and flexible external crossover, as well as DSP applied to further out the response. I did not find it added much value sonically to what I already had, and I did not care for the extra equipment, so I sold my subwoofer related stuff.

My odd-shaped room is no good with some types of speaker but horns excel. There are also a couple of REL S812 subs (each with twin 12" drivers) but they make virtually no improvement to the bass so will be sold soon. I really don't need 8 12" drivers in total!

The front wall, part of a 7.3.4 Dolby Atmos system. The fronts LCR are custom DIY open baffles; the subs are 3 BIC America Acoustech PL-300IIs; surround beds are Magnepan 1.6QRs, and the height speakers are KEF Q150s.View attachment 479016

Spring L3 KTE DSD512x48 / DSD1024x48

ROCK → Cisco Unmanaged Switch → ASRock B760i Lightning WiFi → Sugo i914000 - 4070 Super Unbuntu HQplayer Embedded → Raspberry NAA → Intona → Spring L3 KTE → Pre-Amp → Accuphase e-280 → PS S300 → QRE Cables → Kudos Cardena C10 + REL 7/x Sub

Took many years to build it up, mostly from display sales and audio shops closing down. The PS S300 update helped drive the Kudos C10 base much faster. Before it was a bit boomy, now can notice more overall control.
