Had some spare time an was curious what my Bose Wave music system III FR looks like to be precise what does it do when measuring the 2 EQ setting Normal (the loudness setting) an Reduce (think neutral or less bass setting). As a disclaimer I'm not by far a audio (measuring) specialist. Thats why i did a measurement with Mathaudio Room EQ (room EQ for dummies

) software that i know by hart with good results. Probaly REW was a better choice but what the heck.
So the Bose Wave music system III is not what we know as High End stuff (forget stereo image, staging depth etc. etc.) but to get some decent likable sound in my horrible acoustic living room (suffering from WAF) it does it job more than excellent to my surprise specific the Normal setting. The Bose is used daily, Favorable station KCSM radio.
Measuring is done in 1 square meter 9 point measurement distance around 3 meters where i normally sit.
The Normal setting (compared to the Reduce setting) shows at 50hz an increase around 3db around 80hz a 2db increase is more or less noted. From 200 - 14khz an increase in the Reduce setting (compared to the Normal setting) is seen or did Bose EQ'd/lowered this range in the Normal setting who knows.
The full corrected neutral sound (white horizontal target curve) resulted in more detail bit less bass. When using other (personal subjective) target curves you could get to a more or less the desired sound. For me the Normal setting makes the sound quite good (subjectively I'm a bass head

). It is not really practical to hookup a laptop to the Bose on a daily basis.
