Have a bunch of basses - here's the wife...

Serial #222 Kubicki XFactor - we've been through some tings and have stories. I got it in 86 because I had a prototype of Spector NS2 that a local was in love with so he traded me the Factor, a 75Jazz and a MM Stingray for it! This was originally 1 of 10 ever made in salmon pink - sold it about 15yrs after I got it because I was in a vintage phase - bought it back two years later but the paint was stripped. Sent it to luthier, had the body sized down a bit, changed to Sadowsky pups/pre and nitro'd black. To this day still my #1 girl, and I've owned 100's of basses over my 6+ decades.

What's the story with that SG skeleton in the background? That looks potentially intriguing.
Too sad! :( Acquired free. It’s a ‘65, corked headstock, fractured and glued neck, cracked fretboard, stripped and parts-less. Retired to the rafters my friend…

Might I suggest the following...

Complete the fracture (break the neck). Frame it. Make a plaque...

"Frank Marino's 1965 SG - it was destroyed on stage at the Texas Jam in 1978 durning an argument between Frank and bassist Paul Harwood - there was a disagreement as to when the guitar solo should end. Paul was eventually taken to the hospital with a slight fracture of his left clavicle but true to his nature, the song, and tour continued."

And hang it in the music room. You're welcome.

That's my kind of guitar. Nothing there that couldn't easily be fixed and be better than new.

Well.. if yer anywhere near NC you may need to come have a look. Y’all might need to see her.

I've had many guitars over the years but this is the current stable. I haven't played much in the past few months though, sadly.

Wow, just saw this one, fascinating
Indeed very crazy stuff.
There is one drawback of the concept, though (besides the bulkiness), you can't bend strings much, they'll touch the fretboard rather quickly. Now most bass players don't bend strings as much as guitarists do...

Left to right from overrated to the best. Or perhaps Behringer has just copied the looks. The RAT is the business. Or at least the model in my Gigboad is.
I like a Klon. My main one is from J. Rockett. This one I picked up just because it was so cheap and having an extra Klon around seemed like not a bad idea.

The Rat is probably going to supplant the MXR Distortion+ on my board. Just haven't been able to jive with the MXR, but the Rat sounds great and is pretty versatile.

I've been playing this one a bit more during this winter from hell

"Big Bopper" (1930-1959; Jiles Perry Richardson) who wrote his hit record "Chantilly Lace" in a car en-route to the recording session played a Ford Aurora II guitar prototype that never got marketed. He died in the plane crash with Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens along with the pilot which was called "The day the music died." That guitar authenticated by his personalized guitar strap was recovered after the crash with minimal damage.
