DroOL! The black rims on that gorgeous blue look fantastic not to mention the laid back lines and the face on that car. :D
Thank you. Only have about 50 miles on it so far. I drive year round with the roof down. Heated seats and heated steering wheel make it enjoyable. It really is a joy to drive though.

Some others from the years.

Another blue car the Porsche Cayman. :D I drove a convertible for 7 years on the west coast where it barely snows and I loved it. Same as you top down even at freezing. The mechanic made sure it blew hot air inside and he was good apparently because it was warm inside. I've never owned a Beemer and I keep hearing about this 6 cylinder goodness.

Can you pretend you are Monty Hall and ask me which door I want to choose.
Heated seats/.../radio knobs/ turn stalk are the work of the devil... unless they also come with a masseuse.:D

Found a pic of my previous VW scirocco, im a bit of a VW old school fan and always been into mk1/mk2 golfs/sciroccos.

There were a few very early prototypes of the first Gen Scirocco with twin engines (one mid-engine & the normal with a slider in the dash to vary the milliseconds of lag that the front engine had on the rear engine). Unfortunately never a production car.

I recall someone in the Valley taking one of these LeCar Turbos (Renault5 for US, sold thru AMC dealers) and dropping a V8 behind the front seats.

If you must ask "why?" << because they could.

Those performance numbers don't compute; based on the specs you provided.
If they did not come from an ASR skunkworks APx555, I shall remain a skeptic.
US demand disappeared, past the end of the '80s.

Yes, they brought back a second generation, it didn't sell well in the USA again.

There was a mystique about them in Canada. Peeps where hanging onto them and protecting them but I have not seen one for ~13 years or so. Not since that guy rented the garage and stored a prime example over the winter. He loved that car. The other examples of them was earlier and they still had that mystique.

It was very 'agricultural'. Every gear change needed to double de-clutch, everything else was manual, and heavy.

We got stuck in Traffic on the M25 (ring road around London) as it was a Sunday afternoon. My Dad was driving an Aston Martin V8 Saloon (the 80's one like below picture) behind me.

iu

I was worried about it overheating or my left leg giving up so would take every exit, and then rejoin again. Very irresponsible, but needed the break to cool everything a little. No one minded it all, and there was no trouble getting back in to the traffic. Turned so many heads that day.

double de-clutch
"double-double"?
I recall driving a VW bus w/double-clutching. Kinda confusing (and delayed) cacophony surrounding the cabin, while doing so.
There was no need to try to hurry things up, as the left foot and the (seat-of-the-pants) feedback were so disconnected: 50HP in the rear, w/a cable clutch-pedal [I think] made things go even more slo-mo... but still fun.

I had a 1986 model for 2 years and drove the pants off of it (@100k miles) but it just would not die.
Took us all the way down to CaboSanLucas and many other off-road adventures.
License plate read "FLEW DA"; (Hint: Look just below the rear license plate, in above photo)

Stock 1988 VW Scirocco in the 1 mile drags.

The SPECS provided are a 2009 VW Scirocco R Mk III, a vastly different car

I used to work and autocross with a guy that had a Scirocco and two Corrados. At the time, I either had a 99 Civic Si or a 98 Contour SVT.

There was guy with about an 88 Golf that dominated his class and my buddy was trying to keep up with him and was not succeeding.

I like VWs but I always heckled him. At the time, my wife had a 1999 Jetta and it was in the shop SOOO many times. It was a 48 month lease and I think it was literally in the shop at least overnight about 12 times but she always had nice loaners so that was fun.

Hehe. I remember I think it was Corrodo V6 model drivers kept challenging me as I drove my red Sunfire GT. I'de be driving along minding my own matters and voila a Corrado zips past me, hits the brakes, comes up beside me and starts mucking around. It happened several times and maybe it was the same person. Lol... I never tried to race that car because there's no way a Sunfire GT is going to beat a Corrado V6. :D

If you had a Sunbeam Tiger instead of a Sunfire it would have been maybe different.
