Being born in Salzburg, Austria, I have a home movie of my mother bringing me home (to my grandparents house) in a Mercedes TAXI (maybe, one day, I'll see if I can figure out which model) in 1957.
The first car that I ever rode in, I have in my home movies.
I've loved cars ever since the first one brought me home.
Also, I got this LP very shortly after it first came out.

I never heard much about that car, I think because my dad had something to do with her obtaining it. I'm sure grandpa Clark liked it, an Olds mechanic. Mom was coming off a used MG and new Austin Healey, so I'm pretty sure the Benz was kicking comparative butt.

Obviously the MG is a very old technology vehicle. I think she would have considered the Fintail to look "old", but the W111 Coupe would have been a better choice than 190 for her commute to Philly down Rt 309. The 190 is great, but I'm not a fan of old sports cars, lacking ride, performance and safety. It looks great too, just like the 300 Gullwing, but competes more with the Karmann Ghia :facepalm:

I assume he is referring to the French curve used by draftsmen and used to design sheetmetal sometimes. Would have gotten lots of use on the Hornet design. Sometimes protractors have them along one edge.

The Good Ole Days, Back when stock car racing used STOCK CARS. !

In 1960 tyres had the sort of tread nowadays sold as all seasons, were crossply and didn't have much grip even on a pristine road. :)
Back in the mid 60s we had the tires with the little divots in them where I would insert the little steel studs for winter snow/ice driving.
They could later be removed in the spring if desired.
Trouble was few would bother to remove them, and they really tore up dry pavement.
They got outlawed after a few years but really did work great on winter roads. :p

Not that I don't love the Fit (or is it a Jazz there?), I owned one for a few years, but I think the car on the right will make for a more interesting discussion topic. :D
