Mine is a spaghetti mess. I'm running a multichannel and a stereo system that share the same front speakers and subwoofer, so the cable count is almost doubled. Will post photos later. But I always have a lot of respect for anyone who keeps their cables neat and tidy.

What does yours look like? If it's a mess like mine, no shame in that. It might just be a matter of not finding the time (read: being lazy), well I know. Any thoughts on how you'd tidy it up?

How do you switch speakers and subwoofer between the systems?

I don't have a rig where I can go to the back - would very much like that and the space for it. But I have a proper rack with cable management. It manages to get everything out of sight. And it's a lot that is then crammed behind it to the floor.

The components of my main system spread over 4 DIY cabinets, with 1 drawer for cassettes, 2 drawers for CDs and 2 open spaces for LPs each. They are impossible to move due to their weight. The cables lie behind the components in a mess like the OPs.

The desktop systems looks similar tangled ...

Well, I don't switch speakers or sub. I switch between systems using a small A/B toggler. My stereo integrated runs as a power amp for the multichannel system, and I toggle between the two.

Is what you needed to see in my laundry basket? Back of amp on shelf, back of speaker.. Nothing is visible from within the room...

WiiM Mini, digital to DAC. DAC to receiver via RCA. Plus speaker cables in the pictures. Nothing really exciting. Works well.:)
I have as short RCA as I can.

Looks a bit messy with the speaker cables but I spliced in a bit thinner cable to fit the relatively small speaker terminals on the receiver.

No shame here. Below's the cabling for a 5.1 setup (Onkyo) sharing the Revel Salon 2s and SVS sub with a stereo integrated (NAD). I do all my own speaker cable terminations, so they are not exactly dressed.

Probably time to bring some order to it: speaker cables lowest, signal cables above, and so on. However, it would mean powering the system off. One thing I've never understood: why do manufacturers make these terminations so needlessly difficult to plug and unplug?

And I've had 'Now and Then' by the Beatles on repeat... so it can wait.

Any suggestion please?

If your cables are not visible from your listening position, what does that tangle of cables matter? :)

If you want to hide as much as possible, why not consider placing your hi-fi equipment in a properly ventilated cabinet? Plus, if it is suitable, put the speaker cables in cable channels.

I try to keep my power cables to one side, and i try to get all my cords close to the length needed and not much longer. It's still messy.

And what is the WAF score on that rig? :)
You do know Netgear routers have a very poor bass response? :)

I like the idea of using the wraps to hold the cable sleeving to the rack. I may have to try that.

TMI! Get a cheap deal in Brazil....
And don't forget to "polish those packets" by using ethernet cables insulated with aardvark skin.

Glad you got my humor!
