Hello,

Just a noob question:

Should I turn off the volume knob and phantom power 48v of my Audio Interface when I shut down my computer?

I always leave the knob in the middle position and never turn it off when I shut down my computer, as of the phantom power sometimes I remember, sometimes I forgot...

Will leaving them will harm the audio interface or other equipment?

Audio Interface : Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen
Mic : Rode NT1

i always turn off the volume knobs on my amps and interfaces so that i don't accidentally blow out my speakers or eardrums. it's a safety thing i have been doing for twenty years.

I always dial down volume when powering up/down phantom power to avoid clunk/click noises in the speaker. If no speaker is active it doesn't matter.

I would turn off phantom power too as good practice.

You should, for good practice, be switching phantom power off whenever you plug in or unplug a mic: it can generate loud pops, whilst some older (maybe you'll one day borrow a very expensive, vintage mic ..) mics can be damaged by plugging in while +48v is on.

So you don't want to leave it on by default and forgetting it's on next time around ..
