Should I buy one to do headphone measurements? (Noob question)

I want to build some DIY headphones. I can't afford a measurement stand neither I'd like to wait until Amir measures them for free, so I decided to measure them in comparison with some reference-tuned headphones that I already own. I also would want to keep the equipment for further measurements if I would feel like it.
The question is, should I buy a professional DAC for this purpose? There are XLR to USB and even XLR to 3.5mm adapters, so I guess I'd be able to connect the microphone even to my JM6 Pro (lmao). I doubt that I would need another DAC.
Thoughts?

Contact @solderdude regarding DIY HAT and who knows maybe he need a new one so it will be interesting to him also. Certainly beat person to contact regarding anything related to DIY headphone related stuff.

I guess I've figured it out already. I would need either a DAC with phantom power or a separate phantom power block. Since I already have a good DAC, I'll only buy a phantom power block and so be it.

It's more about torso and ears model simulator than ADC and mic preamp but as such cost a lot many people who do it for hobby DIY their own. I am not into it more than theoretically and enough to know the difference.

Yep, it can get quite expensive, so I decided to DIY my own barely scientific stand. It's going to be as simple as a Behringer mic in a cardboard box.

How about asking at right place how people with more practice made theirs? It's not a easy task! Sean knows that very good now.
