So in response to this challenge a couple of French Canadian songs come to mind.

Un Canadien errant, originally composed in 1842 in response to an uprising in Lower Canada, (now Quebec). I first heard it song many years ago by the folk duo, Ian & Sylvia ...


Mon Pays (ce n'est pas un pays, c'est l'hiver) composed in 1964 by the popular Quebec artist and song writer, Gilles Vigneault.
