This is going to retail for $299 USD, what do you guys think? I have a Shanling M1 Plus DAP and love it, but have never owned a Shanling CD player or transport.

Not a fan of the design at all.

I'd prefer the buttons to be top-mounted so that you can press them without nudging the unit.
Also, a rotary volume knob is a lot nicer to use.

See for example the SMSL PL200 MKII:

(yes it costs twice as much)

I'm not a fan of the design either. Even a simple tweak as seen in the two AI images I prompted would be better for starters.

CS43198 is a well-trodden chip - it has measured clean in plenty of budget DACs, so sonically this should be a safe bet. At $299 you're basically getting a transport, a decent DAC and a headphone out in one box, and the coax/optical outs mean the DAC half is never a dead end. I'd take function over the looks debate, but each to their own.

Do any of you own a Shanling CD player? Do you like it?

Have the issues found in the CR60 been resolved in this unit?
Issues with gapless playback, playback problems with various CDs, difficulties with long CDs (even those under 74 minutes), and rhythmic noise interference.
To this day, these problems with the CR60 have not been fixed.

Not a good sign, SMSL also doesn't seem to care about product support. I don't understand why these companies ship products with obvious issues.

Seems like a decent player but not sure it's worth the cost, I'd rather place my bet on FiiO DP11 which looks nice as well

Fosi Merak can certainly be recommended
