Hi all,

I am setting up my first audio setup for my PC. I have the following setup in mind after some research and wanted to confirmed if this setup is doable. I should add, i already purchased all the items and GenAI seem to throw me a curve ball with what appears to be mistake on its part so I am quite worried now....

  1. PC to ZD3. ZD3 will be set to bypass mode, hence using it solely as DAC. Connection is via USB.
  2. ZD3 to ZP3. Using ZP3 as the main control hub to adjust the audio. The connection is via XLR. Tigger cable between the two as well.
  3. ZP3 to NobSound V1-XLR. I decided to get this over fear of the volume on ZP3 being reset and send a huge signal to my speak. Hence, this is really just for protection. I will set the volume and never touch it again. Connection is via XLR.
  4. NobSound V1-XLR to two V1 Mono. Connection is via XLR. The V1 is powered by separate 48V/5A PSU.
  5. V1 Mono to Starke Sound Beta 5 (long story but the above setup was meant for a bigger speaker and I decided to switch from a bigger speaker to a smaller one eventually).
Also, I know the V1 Mono is way over power for the speaker i am using. Am I right that, I can set the input gain to lower gain at 25dB since, i should have decent input signal to the V1 and with this, at least to some extend, it should also help to minimize too much power to my speaker? Just to add on, I am actually quite confuse over this point, especially when I am using XLR cable and the Gain switch seem to be group together with RCA input and wondering if the Gain switch is relevant to my setup.

Thanks!!!

Hi @Nuky^^! Welcome to ASR.

I assume you're talking about the V3 Mono :D

The gain switch on the V3 Mono only affects RCA input, which Fosi tried to mark with the silkscreen print:

XLR input is always at 20.5dB gain.

Nonetheless, as you have two separate preamps between DAC and Amp (three if you include the DAC's volume), limiting the output power to your speakers won't be a problem.
