Hi all! Planning my office setup. Desk against wall, with couch behind in open space (B), or couch against wall, with desk in open space firing into the wall/couch (A)?

Front wall SBIR vs earlier reflections from rear wall. Which is preferable based on dimensions? Rest of the room is off limits unfortunately (home theater setup).

Thank you! (Line in middle of room is a ceiling beam with two support posts indicated by the small circles)

My feeling is that B will sound better, if I understand your diagram correctly. I think with A, you will get more noticeable wall effect/reflections since the distance between the desk and the couch is fairly compact. You can minimize sound reflections in B by adding some sound absorption on the back wall; hopefully that theater space is carpeted as well?

Correct; if going A I would heavily treat that rear wall, as it would be less than 10 feet from my head. Agreed B will probably sound better, despite the front wall SBIR. Entire space will be carpeted. Still tough choice because I feel like I have more speaker selection if I don't have a front wall to worry about
