Setting up my HUGINN streamer

Just purchased this Schiit-style shell (same dimensions as the Schiit Modi) from an amazing DIYer on Reddit to use with my Raspberry Pi 5. The shell includes a functional LED and passive cooling!

The goal is to have this do 2 things to start with:

1. Send music bitperfect from my iMac / Plex server to a Schiit Modi via USB-C.
2. Allow playback control through a browser or iOS app.

Potential future upgrades:

1. Run a Plex or Jellyfin server 24/7.
2. Interface with my DGX Spark cluster to do audio-based (sonic) music discovery.
3. ?

My plan is to install Moode audio simply based on (1) my simple needs, and (2) the developers' community engagement on diyaudio and ASR (there are SO many options in this space: roll-your-own with MPD, Roopie, Hifiberry, Volumio, ...).

$150, I paid for the creators' cost of materials and machining but not for his R&D effort and time. I hope he makes and sells these at scale for cheaper, he is already making version 2.

This was much easier than I expected. Except for the strange 32-bit padding fix because I was powering and getting audio out of the USB-C port of my Raspberry Pi 5, everything was quite straightforward: (1) installed moOde, (2) hook it up to my iMac SMB share, (3) install the rmpc MPD client on my iPad => a $40 bitperfect audio streamer.

Pretty much all the costs come from aesthetics and convenience. The Belkin USB-C splitter I use is $35 (not needed if you are OK with a few more cables into the Pi), the 27W Raspberry Pi power adapter is $15 (not needed if you're not planning to use the Pi for anything but audio streaming, any 15W iPhone adapter will work), the Schiit-style case I purchased is ~$150 (not necessary at all!), a small touchscreen is $30 (though I run this without a screen since I control it from my iPad or laptop).

The one thing I'm going to spend more time on, on the software side, is the 32-bit padding issue to test it in more scenarios.
