Sennheiser HD650 Review (Headphone)

thanks to amir & @solderdude reviews and others.., im bout to buy these.

but where could i get a shorter cable? ~1 meter would be perfect, jack end doesnt matter

Ali-express or something similar.

Good enough balanced cable 1.2m long (25 euros): amazon(.de/.co.uk)/dp/B0C1FVHYJG
By the way, anyone experienced tinnitus after listening to Sennheiser Massdrop 6xx? Every time I listen to it, with EQ or without EQ it gives me tinnitus like no other headphone. I think there are massive resonances after 8 or 9khz and probably around 5khz.

If there are resonances they are in your ear, the driver doesn't have any.

OpenHeart on AliExpress makes great cables. Reasonably priced and no microphonics. An unequivable upgrade, IMO.
Yep. The OpenHeart cable for my HD800 is absolutely flawless.

It's crazy. When I bought my first balanced cables for my headphones like 10+ years ago, getting anything under $100 was considered a bargain. Now someone in China will ship one to me inside of a week for like $25.

True. AFAIR the original balanced cable for the HD800 sold by Sennheiser had a €300 price tag in 2014. I just recently bought a short OpenHeart balanced cable with 2.5mm TRRS for some €30+ with free shipping. Globalization does have its merits.

I think the THX AAA 789 amp is amazing with these headphones, and furthermore I was able to improve the sound with a replacement cable that works with the 4-pin XLR output. I tried this cheap cable and it worked great:

Toxaoii 4 pin XLR Balanced Cord, HD650 Audio Cable Compatible with Sennheiser HD650 HD600 HD580 HD660S HD58X HD565 HD6XX Headphones, 5FT

I was happy with the improvement so I reviewed this cable, here's what I said:

Well made with great sound: well made with better sound than the stock cable. The 5 foot length is perfect for me, and is half the length of the stock cable, which could be why the sound is a bit better with more high frequency sparkle. It also has the XLR connector which is preferred. Lastly it isn't made with an ugly braid like some other cables, but rather has a smooth outer sheath which is tangle-resistant and pretty much non-microphonic. This cable works great with no issues.

I recommend the Hart Audio modular cables which is what I have for my HD6XX. I wanted something that would allow me to use one cable with any termination, which is exactly what this does. They seem to be very well-made and the mini-XLR connection is very solid.

Main cable

Set of all interconnects

You can buy the interconnects individually if you don't want them all. I believe there's a $10 discount when you buy the set and cable together.

When you put the cables under tension and 'pluck' them they have a sound.
You can even tune it by adjusting the tension.

That's about the only sound cables have ... and when they hit the floor or a subject...

Cables do have a resistance and inductance and can have a capacitance to another object.
