Sennheiser HD600 Review (Headphone)

€ 39,- per pair (includes foam inserts) from Thomann and also from Sennheiser directly (in E.U.).

The (new) original pads are of lesser build quality it seems.
@solderdude : If the (new) original pads are lesser build quality, what do you recommend buying?

I have an HD600 marbled — purchased in 2016 with extensive use over the past decade — that still have the original pads on them. But I'm confused about the best path forward since Sennheiser's own pads are no longer as good for this older HD600 model. Do I just keep using these very well used pads, buy with the lesser quality Sennheiser replacement, or something else?

P.s., I'm assuming there is no reason to upgrade from the marbled version to a newer pair of HD600... but let me know that is a recommended path as well.

Edit: I just noticed that @Paweł L replied to a similar comment, recommended to go with the Sennheiser (even though newer and not as great).

I recommend replacing your pads with the original Sennheiser pads. HD6x0 series headphones are not good candidates for pad rolling.

As pads get older they compress a bit more resulting in a bit more lows (in HD600/650). A HD600 with somewhat worn pads thus shifts a bit towards the HD650 with new pads.
As long as the headphone is still comfortable and the pads don't look dirty (some folks hand-wash them) you could just use them.

Newer pads also have a bit more 'warmth' and are thicker and will feel a bit firmer. They just don't seem to last as long.

I have used very similar looking ali-express pads that measure the same but have a little less room for the ears (smaller hole) and the feel of the velour differs a bit.

What country ? You can buy OEM pads on amazon in Canada at least.
I'm in USA; but travel frequently so other countries can also be an option.

I only see this on Amazon, which I believe are the newer (lower quality) OEM pads for the HD6xx lineup; not the original OEM pads for the HD600.

https://us.sennheiser-hearing.com/c...GG*MTczNjU0MTYxMS4xLjEuMTczNjU0MTYzNy4wLjAuMA.. These are direct from Sennheiser for $45.00 USD for the pair with the dust shields included. I ordered a set last year from them delivery time was fairly quick if I remember correctly. Stock is available right now so I'd jump on that as they were out of stock for a long time post covid.

Thanks. The price is slightly lower, but these are also the new OEM pads (Part #050635) and not the original HD600 pads that @Hal Rockwell recommended getting instead.
