Hi there, sorry if I'm posting this I'm the wrong place, but I've been wondering which of these two headphones sound better in terms of soundstage, imaging and frequency wise. Ive heard that the hd599 soundstage but their bass are lacking and have low highs while the r50x have a neutral tune with a higher treble increase, which one would be better for casual listening and watching movies.

Hi @Joshy! Welcome to ASR.

It's been a hot minute since the R50x was still relevant TBH.

Would recomend you take a look at the FiiO FT1 (closed), or the FT1 Pro, HD560S, HD550 (Open).

Hi thanks for your reply! The fiio ft1 pro and hd550 are unfortunately out of my budget (160 Singapore dollars). How do the hd560s and the hd599 compare? Heard the hd599 has a more energetic sound and is more open soundstage wise and the hd560s is more neutral and is harder to drive (120ohms). Im also open to eq them as well, so which sound better when eq and has lower distortion. Thanks in advance!

When you prefer a warm sound HD599
R50x is more comfortable and has deeper sounding lows and isn't overly 'warm' like the HD599.
Treble quality is higher on HD599 but a bit subdued/rolled-off where the R50x has more 'air' but also some sharpness.

When you plan to EQ the R50x is the more comfortable one for sure.

HD 599 is a bit bloated and overly warm and is lacking in 'air'. For this reason soundstage is a bit narrow in comparison.
HD 560S is more neutral but a bit too bright.

HD 560S actually is easier to drive and goes slightly louder at the same volume setting.
Not all HD 560S are created equal either.
