testing sennheiser HD559 ( again ) i tested these a few years ago when Sooty was still with me and i missing each moment . i find it sinful to do this , test again to satisfy or unsatisfying other people .

Sennheiser HD559
Behringer ECM8000
Behringer 1202 audio mixer
Denon AVC-X8500H headphone output
Towel
Silicon ear to simulate the ear canal resonate frequency between 2KHz and 6KHz
and some almost 1hr testing

so a test a bit more in-depth than the first . i applied the Denon AVC-X8500H 1/2 octave EQ . if ask me i think the Denon/Marantz , yamaha sony they have rubbish 1/2 octave EQ ? i see other bands i can't apply -dB EQ cuts ? sure use a Behringer DEQ2496 connected into cheap headphone amplifier i don't see point of that when these so called flagship AVR AVP should have far better , manual 1/3 EQ with additional 30 bands of PEQ per each channel of the AVR .
anyway i got it as best i can with headphones HD559 and tested with " Star Trek II the wrath of Khan " 1982 , region 1 dvd first edition . with fader setting at -5dB . if no EQ was applied the fader level would have been -15 to -20dB at the very least due to the other frequencies or the headphone output of the Denon 8500 being pink noise to frequency sweep flat response .

REW sound generator
testing with sine wave tones with level -30.0dB 20Hz then going though each of the 1/3 octave tones to 10,000KHz gets a fraction HD559 to -dB ear sensitivity faint , so i increase level on REW to -13.0dB . i dare go too high as i need to check with the rigol oscilloscope if the signal is going to clip or curve of the sine wave goes flat at the top of the voltage level as should be nice curve at the top end . also the Denon 8500 will run out of headphone amplifier power i guess ? for the upper highs . low frequencies at -30.0dB 19Hz 18Hz 17Hz i need extra testing to make sure i wasn't hearing harmonic frequencies in front of the fundamental sine wave tone .

ether way i won't upgrade the HD559 unless they break . otherwise human hearing is pathetic compared with my cats hearing range .

seeing how the HD559 frequency looks these get a hissing Sooty
