I checked it with this tool

There is no peak for me. There is a peak at around 8kHz but i hear absolutely no peak at that 4~6kHz area.

I would say, if you can't hear it, it doesn't matter if its there in ear simulators.

Also several people have compared the 490 Pro to the 560S and all agreed that they do not sound the same. They are not the same Headphone. They use the same driver, yes, but tons of IEM use the exact same Knowles BA and still sound different. Using the same driver doesn't mean the Headphone will sound the same. They tuned it different hence it sounds different.

look at this from Rtings it has peaks like 560s:

Yes, those resonances are from the driver (chassis ?).
Almost any model sporting that new chassis have small resonances there.
Even the HD660S(2) has them.
The resonances are small in amplitude and very short lived.

Very sensitive headphone (110dB/V), so an Apple headphone adapter is likely more than enough.

im in android world, but most of these dongles should work connected straight to phone, is that right?

How about this one:

I just tried my 490 pro with the JCALLY JM20 MAX and my Android phone and it gets plenty loud enough for me; YMMV. :)

If the phone supports USB Audio output and can supply enough current to power the dongle, then yes.

You may have to enable OTG in the settings first.

missed this one from review index.. looks good!

Or if you would prefer the ability to adjust volume using the dongle, rather than on device then there’s the new Hiby, I might order one just to try out.

currently between fosi audio ds2 and jcally jm20 max, fosi does have undetachable + vol. buttons,

but both seem good

edit: heck this is all personal preference, i actually prefer jelly dongle without buttons, phone does volume anyway

After looking into this dongle it appears to work best if you also use the Hiby music app, so I’d forget about it for tidal/roon/Apple Music use etc,

Why would it not work with Tidal, Apple Music etc?

Or what part of its functionality do you suspect would cease to function when not used with HiBy Music?

Do you have a source?

I read all the bumph regarding it in the Hiby link below and I found it on amazon uk for £14 so before I bought I thought to check out the reviews and a number of them said it didn’t work or occasionally gave a crackling noise, and another said it works fine if you download and use the Hiby music app (applicable to android users for bit perfect use), I don’t “need” another dongle as I’ve got 3 different types and a Qudelix 5k as it is

There are Android ROMs which do not natively support USB audio output, in which case the only way to get audio out is to use audio players like Hiby Music or UAPP, which bypass Android entirely.

But this has nothing to do with dongle specifics, any DAC will behave the same.

If your Android ROM supports USB Audio output and the dongle supports UAC1 or UAC2 (virtually ever dongle does), then it is incapable of refusing playback from specific Apps only.

hey, i got these almost a week ago, sounding great and all..

now i know everybody says they are super comfy, but i've been listening about an hour or two a day almost.., but im noticing that after 20 min. or so im getting some pain aroud my ears (at the bottom side of my ears, where pads are touching my skin), is this normal or is this from clamping being too strong. my head might be on the wide side, but still...

i havent had headphones before so im wondering, do the clamping force decrease in a week or should i bend them a little maybe, or is it normal to get little pain from this.

the extension is 0 at both ends at the moment (tried extending but that does not seem to help), right now i add paper towel under the headband, that seems to loosen the lower cup pressure i think, i also bended the metal but very little -almost nothing i think. will bend more if thats one way of loosening it.

When was the last time you tried Realphones? It’s gotten significantly better in the past year. Also, I think APL Virtuoso is actually the best of all the correction/room/speaker simulators out there.
I agree, especially if you gel with one of the HRTF options. I've tried them all and Virtuoso is the one for me.

Very comfy headphones. I've tried @amirm 's EQ and found it to be uninspiring, at least to my ear. I can understand why it felt underwhelming in sub-bass.

I've ended up modifying @oratory1990 's producer pad PEQ to my 'big Hi-Fi sound' preference. This gave me the oomph and upper midrange sharpness I live for. YMMV:

The cable of those looks quite solid. Are the non-balanced cables pin-compatible with Beyers or AKGs or are issues like swapped channels to be expected?

(Of course the balanced cable won't work since the 4th pin is missing on the AKG and Beyer headphones)

Dunno, but here's the stock cable. It does not terminate in a balanced connection despite having the pinout.
