I bought two of these to take on a cruise to Mexico. I ran one set off my iPhone 8+ and let my best friend use the other off my iPad 6gen - both running Tidal downloads at 16/44.1. I had low expectations but the Sennheisers worked great - good sound quality, reasonably good isolation and very comfortable outside on the deck or in the air conditioned cabin. My friend was very impressed and will be using them at home with a number of different products. I have Sennheiser HD600's at home as well as Etymotic ER3SE's (much better sound and isolation) so for me these will be used occasionally when wireless is more important than sound quality. For the money I was truly impressed - $100 each shipped free from B&H (no tax except NJ/NY)

note low 18 ohm impedance if you plan on using them wired:

Hey I just got 4.50BTNC (on sale here for around $140 while the 4.40 was around $130) and have HD600 and ER4SR as well, I’d say this Bluetooth Sennie headphone sounds nice and remind me of my HD600.

However, I did not notice before purchase that the HD4.x series does NOT have AAC support, which means only SBC and aptX via Bluetooth.

So if your iOS local music with lossy codec, it’s gotta be compressed twice using SBC since iOS doesnt handle aptX.

Damn, I though this 2017 bluetooth headphone should already handle AAC transmission to appeal more to iOS users. Having AAC streamed untouched would also be much lighter on the system, since my music is 256kbps AAC but to transmit using SBC it will need to be re-encoded to higher 3xx kbps (that offers worse quality) which again is heavier load for network (3xx kbps > 256kbps I guess) as well as processing power.

This is comparison between BT codecs; you can see that for real music application SBC performs pretty poor but for test signals it is almost textbook-perfect
