SEAS KingRo4y MK3 Kit

Nice
The best best best moment of this journey IS when you gonna fire them UP, these are going to blow you away on a different level of hifi..

Some progress made! Now it is actually possible to see that it will be a loudspeaker after all!

Now it is time for gluing it all together. Hoping to get that done later in the week. Fingers Crossed!!
Looking good. I wish I had known about that pre-coloured mdf before I made mine. I used a similar sound deadening material but I had to install it after the assembly and paint job. I also I looked at the seas KingRo4y MK2 instructions and they used some filler material inside each chamber so I did to, not sure if that was a mistake or not.
I think there might be a cabinet rebuild in my future.

Would be interested in building a KingRo4 clone but not using Seas and Hypex but Perless/ SB drivers and MiniDSP 2x4HD can someone help I love the concept of KingRoy fullrange thast not a Foor stander I dont mind a FAST too

regards
anand

Easily, with any coaxial mid-tweeter (like from KEF, Sica, TangBand) and any decent woofers.
But you must take measurements and learn to do setting for minidsp. I recommend using HypexFAs and just mofify KingROY settings. I am using both in different projects.

Any idea how to convert Hypex dsp file to Minidsp 2x4hd

Manually. Open the file in Hypex Filter Designer and note down all the filters.

Should be doable in 30 minutes. Don't use the graph view but the block view.

Why not? Are the biquads in the mini dsp doing something else with the values? I think this would be really weird. Here is one biquad from hypex for KingRo4y:

BoostCut, 7635,32 Hz, Q 3,00, -2,21 dB

I would have thought this should mathematically be the same?

If not one would need to get both and either measure acoustically or electrically to get the same output.

IIRC from converting the minidsp settings to hypex for lxmini it should work. They use the same Q definition. The filter type names are different though, so make sure you use the right ones, and check the frequency response plots match as a final check.

Uhh, I missed that part. With other drivers this is a completly new box. You cannot reuse the values at all. They are very driver specific.

Diyhobby would like to clone kindroy with SB and peerless speakers and getting the values of hypex for another unit: m'y answer is it can "look like" ( ie clone) but will sound like

Values are to aligner specifics of selected speakers, changing them with as they have different values will not sound like a kingroy

Some progress. Now I have 2 boxes! They turned out nicer than expected - even after some very light sanding.

Next step is some felt and filling. After that I will be sanding and then treating the surface with some Rubio Monocoat.

Very nice, contrats
You now have speakers that are basicaly the best that sound reproduction can offer in a living room, period

I would have the right speaker a little less close to wall, also hide a little better these câbles

Lets Rock

Thanks!
Believe me - I hate visible cables so that will be fixed
Will also build some nice stands.
