Script for intermodulation distortion testing of vinyl playback, setting VTA ,Zenith etc by test record

Not sure whet HTA calculation behaved like this, turning cartridge lateral angle clockwise from above,, script state +6 degree at start then 4 and the L R spead positive& negative, and then a big jump to -4..? VTA is stable and consistent at 28-29., all data AT95E

What re the IMD values for the first L/R pair of points at the various alignments?

( notice how minimum shifted one degree ? In top plot , I can only speculate but changes done was different alignment, only overhang changed by moving arm base on SME V, and possibility anti skate 0.x units)

Added a single L/R test track version too for any crosstalk track Ortofon etc reads first L then R, nothing more

another app.. now I've published a web app that can analyze channel balance and crosstalk.. Useful for those who can adjust channel balance, or want to adjust azimuth on their pickup for minimal crosstalk. Those who can't adjust anything should just stay in the dark and skip the whole thing so they don't get caught up in nerd mode...



To use it, you first make a recording (wav file) of, for example, Ortofon’s test record which has separate left and right tracks. Use something like Audacity, based on RIAA or amplifier or whatever, then upload the file to the website, and the analysis starts automatically. (You can adjust some settings in the left margin before you upload the file)

NB streamlit is a free solution I use and it can get overloaded if too many people use it at once, then I’ll have to restart the app, send me a PM if that happens to you

A small cosmetic flaw means that channel balance values (green axis/values) can overlap other displays, but that's okay for now.

What’s the purpose of competing with each other on apps? Is there a gap or problem you’re trying to solve? Can you publish the code so one can determine compliance?
 
@JP Good test records ar hard to find, taking the cartridge and arm out of the equation can be helpful. With my Ipohne 17e i get more correct rpm than on previous phone.

It started at a private experiment, , but then thought it might be useful for others.
I did intentionally refer to you and alert you in the "Fun thread "since you did the work on the weighting curve and shared it.


Maybe I was too exited when the script worked, If you think I have overstepped some boundaries let me know, and I will take it down.
It is now deactivated while you review it.

As mentioned on AK, that plot is just my weighting filter response compliance to the target specified in the standard. It’s the (kinda) easy part. The band split and symmetric filtering of the wow and the flutter components isn’t easy if the targets are tight. That’s all hugely compounded with low frequency carriers.

I’ve always shared my code, and moved everything to GitHub, so that the community can contribute to the tools. I don’t care if these types of tools are “my” code, but I also don’t care to put my time in to duplicative tools. I also don’t think my engaging in that serves the community at all, especially where implementation details matter such that the tools won’t agree on numbers unless they use the same processing pipeline. It’s the opposite of my goal to reduce confusion.

I’ve no say in what you do, nor do I think I should or want to. I’m just confused about how fracturing tools helps people.

I think the visual curves are telling more than the w&f numbers. Such plots certainly helped me correct my beltdrive performance.

The weighted w&f values are numbers that can hide a lot and as you say are hard to compare across tools. I think the test records themselves add even more uncertainty.

,, Maybe I should just leave out the weighted w&f and just calculate the raw unweighted 2S value. ? ( the bands in the WF % plot) .


I have to think about all of this.For your information the web app is not active now.

Maybe you would like to make a version of your att that uses Phyphox , then it would be fully consistent, and mine can be deleted permanently. ?

It might be an interesting little project—leveraging all the experience you've gained—to consolidate information into a single thread.
You could organize it by reference disk or by test type, detailing the relevant ranges for specific tests in a precise, concise way (perhaps even specifying which apps to use), focusing only on the truly relevant ones...
